SCALLYWAG PROJECTS
Project 1: Make a new ladder to get in and out safely
As soon as I stepped into the cabin, I knew something was wrong.  Instead of a step, there was a piece of plywood lying between the quarter berths.  When my weight landed upon it, the plywood (not secured) shifted.  Had we been heeled over or had any waves, I may have had an unfortunate first opinion of my Lancer.  So, the ladder became the first priority.
Plans attached.  If you have questions, just e-mail me.:
Project #2:Installing a Marine grade Porta-John
The boat had one in it previously midship along the starboard side, but that head had been removed.  Funny how the fiberglass there was molded.  Apparently, there were different designs for the same hull mold.
There were two 1" x 6" boards screwed together and the deck in order to level the space.  Those boards had rotted.
This project was easy!  I replaced the boards with one solid 2"x 6" x 26".  After applying several coats of Hattaras White topside paint, I used one old board as a template for the screw holes.  I secured the new board.  Then bought a marine grade porta-potty WITH MOUNT for $80.  It's not great, but fine for day/weekend sailing.
Sometime in the future, I'll build a little vanity to fit the
small space to the left of the head.  It'll be perfect for
holding toilet paper and small toiletries.

Like most guys, I have a busy/full life.  My second career and family take up 98% of my time.  The precious spare time I get, I don't always want to work on my boat.  So, I adopted a three year plan to restore the Scallywag.  That's not to mention that I'm on a budget, as I'm sure are most of you.
Year One: 2006, is to make sure she was safe.  Coast Guard regs, etc.
Year Two: 2007 will be to tune rigging, and make her fully functional.
Year Three: 2008 will be for cosmetic work like finishing the interior and maybe a bimini top.
