Beacon City is situated along the coast at the confluence of the Wading and South Rivers where they flow into Great Bay, which makes its way through the Centery Narrows out into the ocean1.

The Waterfront
The citys waterfront is located along the tip of the central peninsula. This area was badly damaged during the tidal wave, however has been rebuilt to feature ultra-modern piers and port facilities. This area is the heart of Beacon Cities shipping traffic, which is the source of all imports2.

Places of Interest: The Beacon Aquarium; Ocean Gate Shopping Center

Riverside
East of the Waterfront is the charming Riverside district. Completely destroyed during the tidal wave this area was a pet project of The Benefactor and has been recreated with loving detail. The area features many small parks, tree-lined streets, brickwork buildings, and a memorial to all those who lost their lives on The Eve of Destruction. This neighbourhood is popular with younger citizens, particularly students of The Benevolent Academy. Riverside is also home to Beacon Citys most distinctive landmark, The Beacon Statue3.

Places of Interest: Beacon Park and The Beacon Statue; The Midnight Hour nightclub

Wading Way
Running along the northern side of the Beacon Center area is Beacon Citys business district, centered on Wading Way. Perhaps more then any other area this area has benefited from The Benefactors advanced technologies. This districts buildings are some of the tallest in the city, towers of glass and steel. Beacon City's most prominent corporations call this area home3.

Places of Interest: Grant Tower; Pyramid Plaza

City Center
The heart of the city, City Center rises around the staggering Vigilance Hall, home of all governmental operations. This district also houses the headquarters of The Pinnacle Path Foundation, a group that views The Benefactor and The Vigilant Watch as demi-gods and the perfected state of mankind3.

Places of Interest: Vigilance Hall; Pinnacle Path Headquarters

Midtown
The central area of Beacon City, bounded by the monorail lines, Liberty Park, and City Center is called Midtown. Among other things it is the largest downtown residential area and features a number of futuristic high-rise apartment buildings, prime real estate for upwardly mobile citizens. Midtown is also home to the massive Millennium Mall3.

The North End
The North End lies north of Liberty Park and the monorail line, centered on the campus of Beacon City University. Places of Interest: ASTRO Labs; The Hunter Museum of Natural History; Beacon City Medical Center; Beacon City University

Parkside
The strip of land between Route 6 and Liberty Park, hemmed by the North End and the Theatre District, is called Parkside. This area bears a strong resemblance to Midtown, with its high-tech accoutrements, but is balanced by the artistic sensibilities of the Theatre District. Parkside is home to a number of high-rise apartments overlooking Liberty Park, priced for those with money to burn. Home to many of Beacon Citys elite, a Parkside address is a sure sign of someone with influence5.

Places of Interest: The GBN Building; Liberty Park; The Kirby Fine Arts Museum

The Theatre District
South of Parkside is the Theatre District, a neighbourhood of small apartment buildings clustered around a number of local theatres and clubs, featuring some of the best nightlife in Beacon City. The emphasis in the Theatre District is on performance. Though tightly monitored, The Benefactor has proved a generous patron of the arts, provided the work is to his liking5.

Places of Interest: Beaudrie Opera House; The Liberty Dome

The Fens
The Fens are a corner of the Theatre District on the shore of the South River. Originally a marshy area, the region was filled in during the Moore era to allow for expansion of the city and to eliminate disease carrying insects. The project was a cauldron of graft and the new inexpensive land was snapped up by Moores criminal associates. The area quickly became a home to sleazy porn theatres, dive bars, and slum housing. Badly damaged in the flooding, this area has thus far received no attention from the citys repair efforts and has become an even more dilapidated & dangerous neighbourhood5.

Places of Interest: The Stratford Inn and Tavern; The Royal bar

Hanover
The largest area of North Beacon is Hanover, covering nearly as much area as downtown. Much of Hanover is focused on small high-technology businesses, working to meets the needs of the cities corporations and the burgeoning war effort. Hanover is also home to the imposing Beacon City Re-Education Facility, where low threat offenders are sent for corrective training5.

Kingston
Once an upper middle class neighbourhood Kingston was devastated on The Eve of Destruction. With the help of Federal funding the area was rebuilt to provide low-cost housing to homeless survivors of the disaster. Kingston is now a low to lower-middle class neighbourhood, wrought with crime and violence5.

Places of Interest: The Willowgrove Projects

North Bay, Ruins of
Once a posh district filled with expensive houses and historic mansions, North Bay was destroyed on The Eve of Destruction. Going largely ignored for years the wasteland became a home to squatters and vagrants. North Bay has now been reborn, if in a menacing fashion, with the creation of The Birchfield Facility, an industrial production site and holding facility for prisoners of war5.

Places of Interest: The Birchfield Facility; Canvas City

West Beacon

Lantern Hill
The north side of the peninsula along the Wading River rises to a hill that is the site of some of the oldest settlements in the Beacon area. Lantern Hill was built in revolutionary times and became one of the most exclusive neighbourhoods of Beacon City. With the move of the power elite to Parkside however Lantern Hill is no longer as exclusive as it once was and the garden apartments & row houses have become a haven for those citizens who prefer a life away from the heart of things6.

Places of Interest: Lantern Hill Cemetery; St. Stephens Church

The West End
Flowing down from Lantern Hill towards Greenbank is the West End of Beacon City. The West End was originally a number of small ethnic communities settled around the end of the 19th century. Today they have blended together into an overall community, although pockets of the original cultures can still be found6.

Places of Interest: Ashton Mall; St. Sebastiens; Temple Ben David; Trinity Hospital

Greenbank
Greenbank, in between the West End and the South River, was best known as a railroad stop where goods moved in and out of the Beacon City area by train. It is filled with warehouses and rail yards which hum day and night, sending supplies to the front and receiving incoming prisoners6.

Places of Interest: The Union Rail Yards & Processing Facility

Ashton and Grenville
The bedroom communities of Ashton and Grenville are fairly new, having grown up over the past twenty years. With its new neighbourhoods, schools, and shopping this is a favoured area for average, middle-class citizens seeking a quite peaceful life6.

South Beacon

The Boardwalk
South Beacon is best known for The Boardwalk, running along the shore of the South River between the Wallace Expressway and Route 4. The boardwalk is lined with hotels and casinos, since gambling is legal in the area by local ordinance. Originally built during the heyday of gangsters in the 1920s the majority of the hotel have been redesigned or demolished & replaced with shinning technologically dazzling marvels. Money pours into the casinos from locals seeking to escape the reality of daily life in The Beacon and from the international tourists that swarm to this futuristic Mecca7.

Places of Interest: Atlantis; The Golden Goblet; Our Lady of Mercy; The Palace; The Paradise

Southside
South of The Boardwalk is the Southside district of the city, bounded by Route 4 to the east and Route 6 to the west. Southside is mostly middle and lower-middle class. This area has seen an economic surge since the opening of Birchfield, with many residents gaining jobs in its factories. This area has also seen record recruiting to The Benevolent Guard, with many young men from Southside now patrolling the streets or manning the front8.

Places of Interest: DeCosta Construction offices; Eclipse nightclub; Jordan International Airport

Lincoln
West of Southside is the neighbourhood of Lincoln, built up in the 1950s and 60s. Lincoln has a predominately African-American and Latino population and, similar to Southside, has seen a strong economic surge due to the war effort. Lincoln was also previously home to the city landfill. Since the introduction of The Benefactors advanced technology waste management has been revolutionized and this area has been reclaimed as a magnificent public park, featuring an Olympic-sized public pool and world-class water park. In counter-point Lincoln is also home to the South River High Threat Detention Center, which is used to house Beacon Citys most dangerous offenders, pending trial and execution, with special facilities for super-powered insurgents8.

Places of Interest: Lincoln Gardens public park; South River High-Threat Detention Center; Southside Botanica

Bayview
East of Southside is the community of Bayview, between Route 4 and the interstate, bounded by South Bay Road on one side and the South River on the other. Sparred the destruction experienced by nearby Port Regal, Bayview is an affluent neighbourhood that has remained largely untouched by the recent changes to the city. The exception to this rule however is the contact presence of Benevolent Guard patrols, common to all districts of The Beacon8.

Port Regal, Ruins of
Once a neighbourhood of old mansions and Victorian-era homes, Port Regal was entirely destroyed by the tidal wave. Thus far the area has gone un-reclaimed and is a disaster zone of destroyed buildings and squatter shanties. Stand outs amongst the destruction are the remains of the Ocean Heights amusement park and the ruins of the Providence Asylum. The latter has proven a source for dangerous criminals, as patients who survived the wave escaped into surrounding chaos and now made patrol the region as their own territory8.

Places of Interest: Lake MacKenzie; Providence Asylum; Ocean Heights Amusement Park.

Lonely Point, Ruins of
Once home to a United States Naval Base Lonely Point has returned to its roots as an isolated stretch of rocky and desolate terrain. Some signs of the base remain however, section of foundation and underground constructions having survived the wave. These ruins are now the playground of criminal gangs and home to the deranged8.

Places of Interest: Lonely Point Naval Base
