Holiday resorts
Pricier but very nice
. Many of them are near the village end. Most of them have bungalows as well as rooms. They have lower, midweek rates and special rates for backpackers. Prices range from $25, - for a small bungalow, up to $70, - for a family bungalow. Double rooms start at $14, -.

  • Finca La Vispera (T:(3)9446082), peacefully situated and very spacious, has double and triple rooms as well as bungalows for groups and families. It’s partly an ecological farm and they are pleased to show you their herb garden.

  • Traudi (T: (3) 9446094), is beautifully situated and has bungalows, double and triple rooms. They have a restaurant and a lovely pool.

    Local eateries
    Around the Plaza and near the market are some cheap restaurants that offer Almuerzo (Bolivian lunch) and occasionally dinner.


    International cafés/ restaurants, bars

    • La Chakana (T:(3) 9446146) on the main Plaza offers breakfast, vegetarian food, main plates, cappuccino and cakes.

    • Latina Cafe (T:(3) 9446153), near the museum, serves international and vegetarian  food and drinks.

    • Landhaus (T:(3) 9446033), German run, serves international (German) food and does have a disco at the weekends..

    • Descanso en las Alturas (T:(3) 9446072)  serves  pizzas and pastas.

    • Café Jardin (T:(3) 9446082), run by La Vispera is an excellent place to enjoy a fresh salad, an herbal tea or a pastry.

    • Baden (T:(3) 9446071), 2km out of town, on the main road to Santa Cruz, a German run restaurant and bar.

    Nightlife:
    Most places are only open from Thursday to Sunday

     

    • Rock Café Mosquito next to the pizzeria, German run, is a nice  place to hang out at night.

    • Lucho's Karaoke, a locals favorite hangout one block east of the Plaza

    • Galaxy, one block west of the Plaza, 

    • Ché Wilson, one block east of the Plaza is the place for the local youth to dance

      .


    Organized Tours
    Most tour operators offer tours to El Fuerte,   National Park Amboró and the falls of La Pajcha.
