As the time goes by, that pain has gone
as the waves keep moving in the sea. It seems a doomsday for
everyone especially in Aceh, Indonesia. It was shocking the
world. Aceh was crying because a very big wave which
supposed to be at the sea, it came up to the area where
people lived.
I am Muhammad Chaidir. It was my little experience about Tsunami. I think all of people will know about Aceh when hearing Tsunami word. I would drop you a line to know more about me. I am a second child from three siblings
In 2004, early in the morning on 26th of December, an earthquake for about 8.9 SR followed by a big wave called Tsunami happened and cause more than 10000 people passed away. My family was becoming one of the victims. We lost our house and all the things destroyed by Tsunami. However, I thank to God who still keep us alive up until now. My family was safe at that time, but some of my big family members are passed away and lost. It is one of an unforgettable disaster for me. I was in IV grade at the moment. All of the media are also broken including school, house, etc. I could have my school after two month later. My parents were working very hard to develop family’s financial start from zero after Tsunami happened. I was dreaming about my future when my family financial is in recessive condition. I hoped that I could get into a free school to help my family.
Moving house is a usual thing for me since we lost our house destroyed by Tsunami. We had ever stayed in my grandmother’s house, governmental house and my new house which built by donation from Germany Government exactly on my last house’s land. We had been there for about two month, but unfortunately, my mother had a big trauma with Tsunami. Therefore, we decided to build a new house close to my grandmother’s house.
After two years later, I found myself more mature. I saw many different things in Aceh. Although Tsunami gave negative effects, in some sides it also gave positive effects for Aceh Development such as MoU between Indonesia and GAM (Gerakan Aceh Merdeka) on August 15th, 2005 in Helsinki. Moreover, Aceh has been well-known by the world, it proves by a Tsunami Museum in Banda Aceh which built by donation from many countries.Continue reading . . .
