In Memory Of...

News - June 7, 2005

A final, last-minute meeting was called for tomorrow, June 8, 2005. And it will be, 100%, the very last meeting of the year. So, show up!

News - May 22, 2005

Due to a misunderstanding, our next meeting will be on Wednesday, May 25, and it will be our election meeting. Please, please, please come. As far as I know, this will be our very last meeting of this year's CFHS Leo Club.

News - May 11, 2005

Ok, no ones showed to the meeting today. Well, four people did. That's not enough. The election meeting ahs been moved to next Wednesday.

News - April 15, 2005

I don't know what's been wrong with me and dates. I think I have them all fixed now.

I've added stuff about the NFB walk tomorrow. Here are directions:

NFB Walk, starts at 10 AM.

Going toward Fredericksburg on Rt. 1...

After crossing the bridge, take a left at the first right onto Princess Anne Street. Take the left just before the railroad tracks (fairly certain that's Essex St.) Take a right onto Sophia Street. That will take you to the city docks.

You can thank Dak for these awesome directions, because I have no idea where the heck it is.

Also new in the news:

April 23, a Saturday, there will be another walk for the Youth Memorial Habitat for Humanity build. We're not sure when that starts yet, but you cam get forms from Melissa.

New officers will be elected on May 11. Show up for that meeting!

News - February 12, 2005

Once again, we are doing Relay for Life this year. It will take place on May 21 - 22. It starts at 7 PM on May 21 and runs until 7 AM on May 22. It's all all night walk from the American Cancer Society. It will take place at Pratt park. See Mondak for the paper you need to participate. It's awesome and fun. A great time was had last year by one and all. I highly suggest doing it. And if you're freaked out because prom is at the same time, come to this instead of afterprom. It's worth it. :)

Also, the National Federation for the Blind Walk will take place on Saturday, April 16. And the Highway Clean-Up has finally been rescheduled. It will be on Saturday, February 19. Meet at 8 AM in front of the school. It will probably run until 10 AM, or until the traffic gets too bad/dangerous.

News - January 19, 2005

The meeting today was cancelled due to being let out early from school because of snow.

News - January 14, 2005

The Highway Cleanup is no longer going to be held this Saturday, which is tomorrow.

News - December 17, 2004

New layout. I started it yesterday and finally finished it today. I don't know why I used those colors. They're like our school colors. I tried to work the green in, but it just did not work out at all. So yeah. Hopefully better layout and you all enjoy it. The code is also much easier to edit it. Anyone who wants to take a peek at it, go ahead and view source now. I have discovered the tab key. And I love it. Keeps everything organized. So I hope this helps me to better present information to the rest of the Leos. :)

News - December 16, 2004

Michelle called the people at the place that we were supposed to do our caroling adventure, and they said we could come at 2 to do our thing, but it turns out they double booked and now cannot take us at all. So yeah. Sorry guys, no Christmas caroling. And I hope you all gave your gifts to either Brice or myself for the angel thing.

News - December 8, 2004

We haven't had a meeting in a while. This is what's new:

This Sunday (December 12, 2040) is the Lion's Benefit Show. It's at Stafford Senior High School. We are selling goodies. Bring baked goods if you can. Shows will be at 3 and 5 PM. We need to get there by 1:30 PM so we can set up.

We will be having meetings January 5 and 19, 2005. I'll be adding that calendar shortly.

Ok, here are our two angels! I'm going to display it both via text and graphically, so it's all neat and cool like that. All of this stuff needs to be in to Melissa (the president) or Katie (me) by Wednesday, December 15, 2004. I suggest, so we can keep the gifts from being mixed up, somewhere on the wrapping paper or wherever, either have a name tag for them or their angel number.

Name: Colby

There will be a Christmas Caroling Extravangaza on December 18, 2004. The website (this thing) will be updated with information as it is received.

News - November 17, 2004

The next meeting will be held on December 8, 2004.

News - November 12, 2004

Due to the weather, the highway cleanup is being postponed. Don't show up in front of the school tomorrow morning. No one will be there.

News - November 4, 2004

Date change? The Lion's Club Benefit Show, as I've now found out, is not on December 21, 2004, but on December 12, 2004. I've updated the calendar and list of current events. Sorry about that.

News - October 29, 2004

These pictures were taken during the Lions Conference by Mike Rumberg. Hes a part of the Fairfax Lions' club, and they have a website!: Fairfax Lions

Us, standing in front of a window in the hospitality room. There was a Best Buy behind us!

Picture taken by Mike Rumberg
Us, eating. At least Brice and Amanda look like intellectuals.

Many thanks go out to Mike Rumberg for letting us post these pictures. At that last meeting, we pretty much gave reports of what happened on the 23rd. No new news on the Halloween stuff, so I cant help anyone there. I blame Dak and Brice being lazy. Lazy bums. And, in case you have not noticed, right over the Rawr Box is a link to a forum. It's been there since the website opened up, over a year ago. Yeah, maybe we should forum it?

News - October 24, 2004

The conference was awesome. We got to meet and network with two other awesome Leo Clubs and everyone should look forward to future projects. I think we (myself, Brice, and Amanda) scared our new Leo friend David. If I felt like being mean, I'd post the picture we took of him right here, but I think I'll save him the embarrassment of being on a website run by almost-strangers.

We'll discuss all of the cool stuff we did at the next meeting as well as get reports from the other activities held on the 23rd from the people who did 'em. But prepare yourself for one awesome grill-n-bake off.

The question was raised if the Ronald McDonald House was still collecting pop-tops. The website has a list of the participating Ronald McDonald Houses that are. Of the participating houses in Virginia is the Ronald McDonald House in Richmond and the Ronald McDonald House in Roanoke. That website has the number that you can call for more details.

I'm still waiting on Dak and Brice for details about the Halloween house volunteering, hopefully they will give some information about it soon.

News - October 16, 2004

Melissa got me the times for the fundraiser at Courtland Elementary from Michelle. It's between 9 AM and 3 PM.

News - October 13, 2004

Fewer people were at the meeting this go-'round. We have four things going on October 23, so it's kinda crazy. I tried to outline all of the dates that we went over in the meeting. Brace yourself, it's a little hectic.

The following events all take place on Saturday, October 23:

1. Meet in Old Mill Park for a Rappahanock River clean-up. Registration is between 9 and 10 AM, and you start at 10 AM and stay until 1 PM. There will be free food and drink!
2. There is a massive fundraiser for the Habitat for Humanity at Courtland Elementary. Times are uncertain, so just show up. It's fun for all of the kids. To learn more, contact Elaine Worth, ask for her when you call (540) 891-5009.
3. The Conference will take place at the Hyatt Fairlake, the address being Fairlake Circle, Fairfax Va, 22033. Leos going will be Katie, Melissa, and Amanda. They will be representin' with their Leo Club shirts, Leo Club hats, and shiny silver pants. They will be there around 10 AM.

October 31: The American Legion is having a haunted house. It's from 5 PM until 9 PM. We need volunteers. Come dressed up! Nothing scary, though.

November 2: Health fare! It's in the gym at CFHS. It's from 9 AM until 2 PM. Free food and free massages!

November 13: The clean-up will take place on Courthose road. Meet in front of the school at 8 AM. We will clean until 10 AM, but if traffic gets bad, we'll stop early.

Also, information on the Haunted House help is coming up. It'll be a weekly volunteer thing and it's gonna be fun. It's located behing Ukrops. That's all I know right now, but more information should be coming by way of Brice and Dak.

Also start tallying up your volunteer hours.

News - September 23, 2004

We had a great first meeting. We have a lot of new Leos. It's very exciting. We went over our new rules and got a lot of summer business out of the way. Just to catch everyone up... The person to get the most freshmen to join the Leo Club, Melissa will bake a treat for out of her cook book. She's an amazing cook. It's worth it. Gather freshmen! Also, we collected 63 pounds of pop-tops (we're obsessed) last year. We need more eye glasses. ASAP. On October 23, there is the Leo Conference thing, on December 12, a Lion benefit show that we're going to help out with, the health fare on November 2, the high way clean up on November 13. Also, you all have a homework assignment! Sign the Rawr! Box. Do it. I think it's broken. But whatever. I'll try to get the new calendar up as soon as I can.

News - September 12, 2004

Hey, we changed the date of the meeting. Now it will take place on the 22nd. Just a heads-up for everyone!

News - September 5, 2004

School is gonna start in two days. I hope everyone's ready. Here's a bit of humor to put you into better spirits that only us Leos would understand.

You know you're a Leo when...

You walk around at parties and take the pop-top off of everyones can. You even go as far as to taking the can out of their hand to get the pop-top.
You stop while walking in the mall parking lot to your car in order to bend over and pick up a can. You then take the pop-top off of the can and place it back exactly where it was before walking away.
You collect pop-tops, but youre not sure why.
You dont have to ask what a pop-top is.
You fear those pokey-stick planks of wood (with the nails in the tip).
 You voted to overthrow Brice.
You fourth, fifth, and sixth everything.
Youve put money in the Land Before Time bank thing.
 Youve been to the website.
You introduce yourself as John Smith, Im on the website.
You give the address of the website to random people.
You know what website Im talking about.
You enjoy fluffy and cuddly things. And are on the website.
The fall and spring equinoxes make you very afraid of the impending manual labor.
Youve been accidentally stabbed by a Leo Club pin.
Youve been coming to meetings for two years, have recently become an officer, and realize that you have yet to turn in your membership form.

News - September 2, 2004

I'm so excited. I just got back from Open House. Amanda and I made flyers. I printed out something about "You Know You're A Leo When" and stuff. And I made cards with the website printed on it. We got a lot of names and it looks like a lot of people had interest. I'm so happy. I only have a few Membership forms left. Hopefully a ton of people will visit the website and check us out. They should post on the board! So exciting. I'm just so happy. Right now, I'm listening to Dane Cook's CD. Everything is just going good. I gotta get up at 7 AM and go see if anyone else wants to join our fantastic club. I think our next meeting will be on the 15th of September, but I'm not sure. But whatever. It'll be on the announcements in the morning and afternoon, so listen up!

News - May 12, 2004

We had elections today! Melissa is still our President. We have a dual Vice Presidency. Amanda and Michelle are the lovely ladies who fill that position. Sam is our Treasurer and Allie is our Secretary. Katie (me!) is the Historian, Tyler is the new Seargent of Arms and Mondak (Mundake) is our new Tale Twister. Danielle is our Public Relations / Creativity chick. Stephen is our Dean of Property. It's awesome stuff.

Also, we have some new dates coming up. On May 29, 2004, we're going to have a nice little Pop Top fieldtrip. This Saturday, May 15, our John O'Hagan is working on a project and he needs the help of us Leos! It's help with landscaping stuffs. It's May 15, 2004, at 9:00 AM and is located at 2103 Washington Avenue. To get there, cross Falmouth bridge towards James Monroe. Take a left at the second light, Fall Hill Avenue. Take a right on Washington Avenue. It's 2103 Washington Avenue. That's 9:00. Steel rakes, leaf rakes, shovels, and workgloves are items that are going to be needed.

We are no longer helping out with the Great Train Race stuff as we were going to on May 1, 2004. We're sleeping in! On Sunday, we are gonna help with the Food Drive on Giant on May 2, 2004 at the location on 610.

News - April 21, 2004

We're not doing Happy Hats. They have not emailed us back yet, so on Saturday, April 24, 2004, we are doing the Habitat Memorial Youth Walk. It starts at 9 AM at Hurkamp Park in Fredericksburg. Please pick up a registration/pledge form from the front office of CFHS. There you can also find maps and stuff which have been placed there by Nerissa's mommy. The memorial walk is to raise funds to build a Habitat for Humanity house and is in honor of the studens who have lost their lives at Colonial Forge this year, two of which were our beloved Leo Club members, Alex and Ner-Child. We're sorry about how this came up at the last minute. I got the email from Nerissa's mom two days ago and we've made the decision to do this instead of Happy Hats. If you have any questions, seek out Katie (myself!) or Brice or Amanda or Michelle. You can download the PDF file for the application and stuff by clicking here. If this freezes your computer, downloading it as you go, right click it and select "Save Target As." Hurkamp Park should be easy to find. Hurkamp Park from I95: Take Exit 130 onto Route 3 east. Follow signs to Mary Washington College/ Downtown Fredericksburg and you will turn left onto William St. Drive for about 4 lights and the park is on the right, on the corner of William St. and Prince Edward Ave.

News - March 24, 2004

We have the trees! Yes! We have a Snow Fountain Weeping Cherry and a Weeping Cherry. They're still babies. Right now, they're hanging out in the greenhouse. Soon they were planted in memory of our Nerissa and our Alex! They were donated to us by Mike Procci of Pride Kraft Construction. They are really, really pretty and looking good! Also, directions will be posted soon.

News - March 3, 2004

Remember your pins at the next meeting! Remember your money for t-shirts! Remember, remember, remember!

News - February 20, 2004

Finally, we had a meeting. Lots of stuff were discussed, and we have a ton of things that are upcoming. Check out the newsletter for the meeting for specifics. What's new is that on Feburary 6th, 2004, two of our members died in a car accident, Nerissa and Alex. A scholarship has been set up in their name. So, we're going to be doing fundrasing things for that. Also, we have a TON of events coming up, so check the Calendar for information on what we will be doing. We've added a new rule... Any Leo who does not wear their Leo Club pin has something horrible done to them by Mondak... So remember your pins!
