ABF 350 Method of Instruction/Grade Determination

Method of Instruction:   

Lectures/Hands-on Demonstrations (Interactive Computer Lab)/Group Projects/Case Studies.    The lectures, readings, and computer lab exercises will introduce you to a number of key concepts and timely issues related IT applications in organizations.    In addition to the lecture and reading material, students will gain hands-on experience with the organizational applications of IT through assignments involving the development of spreadsheet-based information systems, database systems, PowerPoint presentations and web page development, using native HTML.   Students will be introduced to ethical, social (diversity), legal, and global perspectives/aspects of Information Systems.

750 Points Total
Exam I160 points
Exam II (Final)160 points
Chapter quizzes, in-class assignments and professionalism120 points
Web (HTML) Design Project  50 points
Database Design Project  60 points
Ethics Case Study/Write-up   50 points
Business Case Analysis w/Presentation (Group)   60 points
Excel Analysis Projects (2 x 50 points each) 100 points
PowerPoint Assignment  40 points

Remember:   Any assignment turned in late (past the due date/time) may receive no more than 90% credit, and lose 30% each subsequent class period.

Thus, Grade earned -times- 90% (60% or 30% or 0%) = Grade on project.   

Grade Policy:

A traditional ten-point grading scale will be used:

A = 90-100% (675-750)
B = 80-89.9% (600-674)
C = 70-79.9% (525-599)
D = 60-69.9% (450-524)
F = Below 60% (449 and below)

Additionally, the following activities can be detrimental to your professionalism grade: not following directions, disrespect for the instructor and/or other students, tardiness, class disruptions, using the computers during lectures, using the computers for non-class related activities.
