CENTER
FOR BULACAN STUDIES LAUNCHES PROGRAM
OF ACTIVITIES
ESTABLISHED
in June, 1998 the Center for Bulacan Studies was founded to be
an avenue for research and programs of the Bulacan State University
on Bulacan's history and culture.
At its launching
last February 4 at the Federizo Hall, the Center for Bulacan Studies
is renamed, "Bahay Saliksikan ng Bulakan" to emphasize
its nationalist orientation.
Formerly located
at the BSU Annex, it now resides at the 3rd floor of the Roxas
Hall. Prof. Ray S. Naguit of the Bulacan State University is its
new director, assisted by Dr. Jaime B. Veneracion, BSU's Visiting
Professor from the University of the Philippines, who serves as
the Center's consultant.
The "Bahay
Saliksikan ng Bulakan" shall be a research center that effectively
cultivates the Bulakenyo's sense of place and nationalism and
nurture awareness of their history and pride in their cultural
legacy.
Among the
projects of the Center is the publication of this newsletter named
"Dyaryo Bulakenya." Hopefully, it will be useful in
informing the public about the events and activities in the province
related to culture and history. Mr. Jaime Villafuerte and eight
student volunteers from the College of Education of the Bulacan
State University are collaborating in the implementation of the
project.
