Your Friends And Neighbors

I thoroughly enjoyed the day off from playing in the band.   For a bunch of guys who've performed and toured together for a good two and a half years,  I must confess that the band has had staying power.

My wife and I saw a movie tonight called "Your Friends and Neighbors".   It was a rather dark comedy about relationships and sex.  Very well done, I thought.   I wanted to see this movie again, but I know there were more movies to check out.

I was able to take the kids to their swimming lessons today.   Last Tuesday I forgot to mention that swimming lessons were cancelled because someone threw up in the pool!   They had to clean it up, close down the pool and add chemicals.

I've been doing a lot of soul searching lately.   And it has nothing to do with the band.   Though the band is very busy and is getting to the verge of maybe going national, I'm trying to focus away from the band.  Sometimes, it's a bit too much.

I need to connect into other things to keep me balanced.   For one,  I need to take better care of my health.   So, I'm slowly getting into a serious exercise regime.  Nothing too fancy, such as joining the local fitness center, but rather just going back to basics with walking / running on the treadmill and working out with free weights.   My problem has always been too much enthusiasm and less patience.   Now, I will take it very slowly and gradually build up to a nice daily workout, and not affect my physical performance on the drums with the band.

I've set our November tour up the West Coast as a goal for continuing this exercise regimen and as a point where I will gauge my progress.  My goal is primarily to tone up and to simply feel healthier and stronger so that I can better handle the band's hectic schedule.  It's also for personal development and a need to just get healthier.
