A New Writer's Outlook

At this point in time, I've decided to change my journal writings drastically, and September is a great place to start doing this.

Being that I don't have the time to write these long drawn out entries that depict my day to day, sometimes hour to hour meanderings, I've decided to start anew and change my writing style.   How I'm going to do this is not quite solidified yet, but I know there'll be a change.

I do know that there will be a more positive change in my writings.   I know that previous entries have been geared toward the frustrations of working in a popular swing band, and my dealings with my fellow band mates,  but now I feel I'm going to dispense with all these petty ramblings about the band,  and move on because in all honesty,  it's rather a burden to me to have to talk about them in my journal.   My journal is meant to be a self-improvement tool for me to try and get my life together and so on and so forth.

Everyone has problems in life, and I personally believe that focusing on the negative aspects of one's life is not really the true goal here.   So, from now on I'm going to only focus on the positive aspects of my life, and move on with this journal in a more positive vein.

The Sony Video Shoot

Arrived downtown in front of the E Street Alley at 7:40am for this video shoot (remarkably, I was early!).
We were scheduled to shoot from 8am - 5pm.

It is going to be a video presentation for Sony to use at the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas, and will feature Sony's new line of cellular phone technology.

Hung out for awhile downstairs in the E Street Alley club, a basement level club that has an eclectic ambience to it.   I performed here before with an Acid Jazz band called Rollo.

After setting my drum kit and getting dressed, it was time for makeup and hairstyling.

Actually shooting didn't get underway until around 11:30am.   What I noticed about the video and television business, especially from the Nightman series, is that things don't move quickly.   There could be several takes on this one scene, and a lot of things come into play such as lighting, camera angles, etc.

Chicken fajitas and Caesar's salad were served for lunch.   Personally, I always look forward to eating lunch at these tv and video shoots.  It's just one of the things I like about doing tv and video shoots.

After lunch, we continued shooting but at a slower pace than in the morning,  so we were waiting and waiting...  Then we did a couple more shoots, and then more waiting...    then at around 3:30pm we were told that we could go home now.

All 'n all, it was no big deal to me, and the whole thing was actually quite fun, except for the waiting.
