BTO studio session day three:

Well,  we finally did it gang!   After the third
night at 'Studio West' we finally mixed ten songs
down to DAT tape!!!   Wooo  hooo!!!!   Our supreme
'recorder guy',  engineer Jon Mathias did an
exceptional job at getting the right sound for the
band...  he was a total wizard in the control
room.   We we're in total awe as he worked his
magic at the automated console!  But we're not
quite finished.  The total time for the ten songs
is 33 minutes.   We're planning on doing another
session to try and get 50 - 60 minutes of material
total!

Jon Mathias is an exceptional engineer.  He is
from NYC and came down to San Diego to produce and
engineer the Super Bowl Halftime Show here a few
years ago (also recorded at Studio West),  and I
guess he liked it so much here he decided to make
San Diego his new home.   Here's some of the big
names he's recorded:   Mariah Carey,  Boyz II
Men,  Tom Petty,  KISS,  J. Geils Band,
Aerosmith,  Patti Labelle,  Dire Straits,  Iggy
Pop,  just to name a few.

Jon told us this story when he did a recording
project for Iggy Pop at the Record Plant in NYC.
He said that when he made suggestions to Iggy he
would do the exact opposite to piss everyone off.
And when Jon tried reverse psychology Iggy
wouldn't do the opposite thing anymore.   Jon also
said that Iggy Pop took all of his clothes off in
the studio during the recording of one of the
songs,  and then proceeded to j**k off his
'schlong' while singing the song!!!   What a
dude!!

Anyway,  this recording session is finally behind
us.  It's finished and we're all patting ourselves
on the back.   It sounds great folks!  Especially
Donna Coté's song,  Two Shadows.  It really has
that 30's or 40's vintage feel to it.  We're all
very excited about Donna's song.  Lovely...

Well anyway,  I left the studio at around 3:30am.

I don't think we'll have a new CD out before the
end of this year.  The next session will be in
January sometime.   So the new CD probably won't
be out until February or March.  Sorry kids,  but
from what Warren says it looks like that's the
most realistic time of release for this new CD.  I
think in the long run,  this CD will definitely be
worth the wait!!
