We are a non profit organization focused on the pet breeders and pet owners alike. We are here to educate those who wish to learn all they can about chinchillas. We also have a lot for you to discover within our association. We have an e-group that we would be pleased to have you join whether or not you join CAPA. We have a CAPA Rescue, members directory, breeder's directory, live animal shows, seminars, newsletters and much more.

Everyone's experience can teach someone else. It is improtant that everyone be educated before they jump into the world of chinchillas, and that they know this is not just some scheme to help them make money.

Capa is so much more than just shows, we will also hold seminars where even the beginners could learn all about the well being of chinchillas, how to begin breeding, and the genetics, in an easy form, without feeling belittled. We also welcome those who are just a pet owner, and give them a chance to be involved with and meet other chinchilla people like themselves.

We have put together a Junior Class, so that this group can be family oriented, and get the children involved and learn responsibility.

We are hopeful that we will succeed in this mission of uniting pet breeders and owners together to help improve the quality of life for our chinchillas.

What to Expect from C.A.P.A.

C.A.P.A. will consist of several activities, and programs.

1. Seminars- these seminars will be held bi-yearly. There will be special guest speakers, chinchilla shows, junior class shows, and a banquet dinner. Please refer to the showing section further down on this page to determine which class you are eligible for.

2. Quarterly newsletter- The newsletter will be circulated quarterly, and will be full of helpful subjects. We will have special articles written by members of C.A.P.A. There will be a members directory, a paid breeder's directory as well as classified ads.

3. C.A.P.A. E-Group- The E-Group is a way for C.A.P.A. members to communicate in a more real time atmosphere. You can opt to receive emails, or go directly to the E-Group site and read the messages that were posted. This e-group will also be available to those who are not members of C.A.P.A

4. Trade Days- Trade Days is one of the most exciting features of C.A.P.A. On Trade Days, members will gather and bring with them those chinchillas they wish to sell or trade with the other members. There will be both pet quality, and show quality chinchillas present.

5. C.A.P.A. Board members will always be available to answer questions for each individual member. So if you have any inquiries, then please send an email to [email protected]

6. Awards- C.A.P.A. will have actual awards and ribbons to present to those members who have won a particular placement in a show or specific contests. These awards are not limited to just show winning.

Showing Your Chinchilla

We will have 4 different classes for showing chinchillas:

Show Class: This class is for the pet breeders. You may show a chinchilla that you have bought elsewhere, or you may show any chinchilla that you have produced.

Pet Class: This class is for those members that just own pet chinchillas, and do not breed them. It does not matter where you acquired the chinchilla from.

Junior Show Class: This class is for our Junior breeders. When you choose to show one of your chinchillas, you must be the one that produced the chinchilla, and raised the chinchilla yourself, not your parents. Now if you have acquired one from another breeder that is fine as well.

Junior Pet Class: This class is for those youngsters who have a pet chinchilla that they want to show. The chinchilla can be of your choosing, and can come from anyone, and does not have to be of your producing.

For those of our members that have websites, then please take this member logo and link it back to http://www.geocities.com/capassociation Thank you!
