> Enzymes of the nucleotide-sugar metabolism

Chemistry and biology of carbohydrates are prominents matter of interest. In fact, it is well-known how carbohydrates can serve as structural components of natural products, as energy sources or as key elements in several molecular recognition processes.

In this context we are studying different proteins involved in the nucleotide sugar metabolism, particularly:

  • GDP-4-keto-6-deoxy-D-mannose epimerase/reductase (GMER)
  • GDP mannose 4,6-dehydratase (GMD)
  • alpha-L-fucosidase
