Evaluating Web Sites
The fact that information appears on the web does not necessarily make it reliable information. There are no required standards or rules to be met before putting information on the Web, so the degree of reliability and quality found on web pages can vary greatly. It is very important to be able to evaluate the information and resources that you find on the World Wide Web.

Developing Web Site Selection Criteria
The selection of only the best, most useful scholarly materials continues to be the fundamental mission of ISI. This practice is central to the growth of ISI Current Web Contents and the development of ISI eSearch -a powerful new feature available in Current Contents.

Critical Evaluation Information
With the advent of the World Wide Web and the huge amount of information that is contained there, students need to be able to critically evaluate a Web page for authenticity, applicability, authorship, bias, and usability. The ability to critically evaluate information is an important skill in this information age.

Evaluation of information sources
This page contains pointers to criteria for evaluating information resources, particularly those on the Internet. It is intended to be particularly useful to librarians and others who are selecting sites to include in an information resource guide, or informing users as to the qualities they should use in evaluating Internet information.

How to Tell if You Are Looking at a Great Web Site
The Web is a lot like a flea market: theres a vast selection of sites to choose from but not a lot of order to it. Some sites are offered by reputable dealers and some from individuals who want to show off their personal favorite items. Sometimes its hard to tell whats a hidden treasure, whats worth taking a look at, and whats a waste of time.

Web Site Evaluation for Educators
You can judge for yourself whether an online resource will be good to use. Just fill in the form below. You can print it out first or complete it online, then print the form with your comments. Why we need to evaluate what we find on the Internet

Evaluating Internet Resources

Evaluating Web Sites
Not all of the information to be found on the World Wide Web is accurate and not all websites, no matter how attractive, are good. Thus evaluating a website becomes an important activity.

Evaluating website content
The Internet is a relatively new and untested information and communication medium. As such, we need to evaluate, expand, and adapt existing criteria for evaluating content, as well as develop new techniques.

Evaluating Websites
There is little doubt that the advent of the Internet, and especially of the World Wide Web, has transformed the way the world disseminates information. There is little precedent for so rapid an introduction of so critical and pervasive a new technology. Virtually anyone - from the largest multinational corporations to the individual professor or manager - can become an information provider to the world.

Evaluating Webpages
A little planning before you begin your web publishing can greatly enhance your pages. A well-designed site can be the difference between so-so pages and extraordinary ones. The better designed a site, the easier it is for visitors to read, navigate, remember, and re-visit.
