The people who used to play the collectible card game "Magic: The Gathering" (M:TG) back in 1997 - 1998 might remember a creature card back then called "Crimson Hellkite". In essence, a crimson hellkite is a dragon (even though the card says "summon hellkite"), whose abilities trumped the former king of dragons in M:TG, the Shivan. That card inspired the above title for the most brutally honest and �ber smart woman I know, whom I'll just call Miss B.

Dragons have always had an awe-inspiring effect on me, because of their sheer majesty and power. One burst of their atomic breath and you're toast. Going against a dragon is never a good idea, unless you're pretty high-leveled (to Ragnarok Online players: imagine fighting Earth Petit and Sky Petit).

In a way, Miss B's just like the old dragons of lore. There are times when her ruthlessness is enough to make her students cower in fear. There are also times when one can't help but sit back in wonder at her natural brilliance.

Principled that she is, it appears that Miss B can't help but say what she feels, whether it's for good or bad. Her brutal honesty seems not to follow men's laws of good and evil, but only her own inner moral principles. As Chico Manasan would put it, she's just like Bun-bun, the mini-lop in Abram's online comic "Sluggy Freelance". Miss B is nothing less than a force of nature. Like lightning that doesn't care who or what it trikes, so is Miss B's wrath and grace.

I'm proud to have received both. For the record, she saved me from despair and resurrected my old dreams (no, I wasn't thinking of Gaiman's "Sandman"). However, I'd rather not sing the lyrics of Newton's song "Amazing Grace". Miss B wouldn't like that.

Yes, the dragon wings in the drawing were inspired by the anime "Yaiba".
