She has it all. Beauty, brains, and a gung-ho attitude that got her a cum laude when she graduated from college. I first became acquainted with her at a theater production. She was one of the actors; I was the only male in the props committee. We bumped into each other during rehearsals as she danced her way out of the stage. I was readying a wooden bassinet at one of the exits, and we promptly collided as I waited for the director's cue to usher the prop in.

I had a horrible, horrible crush on her about a year into my relationship with my girlfriend. We were classmates in two subjects during her last semester in college. Remembering my awful experience with Miss Pisces, I vowed to get over my infatuation by befriending her instead of being overly antagonistic. One of my short stories, written just a month before, foreshadowed the events that transpired when I confessed my feelings to her.

Delight of delights! I got to know her better after a few more meetings, and I began to accept her for the person that she truly was. We kept in touch, and then shared each other's victories and tribulations, such as her marriage and my first job as a student assistant, in the months that followed. Something very wonderful happened to us, which, I believe, would not have taken place had I remained afraid, as was in the case of Miss Pisces. We actually became friends.

Now, I'm very proud to say that my life so far has been a lot brighter, simply because of our friendship. A true friend that she is, she really listens to me when I cry my heart out over the phone. She tries hard to distinguish those fine gradations in my tone of voice that express joy or pain. She respects me and my abilities, knowing all too well the limits of what I can do. Needless to say, I do the same for her. Because she's my friend, pure and simple, and I really, sincerely care for her.

If anything, I'd call it a story that didn't quite turn out the way I originally expected, but has a very, very happy ending nonetheless.
