It's not a hobby, it's a lifestyle
<">
This is the continuing BIG story of my little 34 gallon reef aquarium. It has been up and running since March 2000. During this time I have had only one significant loss (knock on wood), a Kole Tang. I'm not going to count snail loss because I do not know the number.

On the following pages you will find the
HISTORY of my fish keeping experience and why I became determined to build a reef.

Thoughout the planning, construction, and break-in phase of my reef I have kept a journal that can be found on the
LOG page. There you will find every idea, discovery, and mistake I made during the first year of the Big Reef Project since it's conception in the Summer of 1999.

Because this is a learning experience for me, I have taken things slowly. The first year I was doing little more than breaking-in the tank. In this second year there is something new to see every month. These changes can be seen on the
VIEW TANK page.

The
EQUIPMENT page will show and tell how it all works. You will also find links to other pages that are dedicated to particular parts of the tank.  There are several D.I.Y. plans here.

The
INHABITANTS page will show and tell you about the fish, corals, and other inverts who make their home in the Big Reef Project.

There were many people who have shared their experiences and ideas through their web sites. These people helped me make my dream come true. Many of them are listed on the
LINKS page.
