Soprano Marion Harvey is originally from St. John, New Brunswick. She began her studies in voice there and continued on to École Vincent D'Indy in Montréal where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Performance. While in Montréal, Miss Harvey performed on the weekly Radio Canada television programme, Le Jour du Seigneur and made appearances at Man and His World in the music pavilion. Following her studies in Montréal, she attended the Opera School at the University of Toronto as a scholarship student performing leading roles in the school's productions and being a member of the Canadian Opera Company Chorus. Marion has had the privilege of working with Bernard Diamont throughout her studies. She has performed in master classes of world renowned performers and teachers, most notably in master classes of Martin Isepp, Elizabeth Schwarzkopf, and Geoffrey Parsons. She has been teaching voice and choir in the Music Program at Cambrian College in Sudbury since 1974, and voice at Huntington University. During this time, she won the CBC Talent Festival, was heard nationally on several occasions on CBC Radio, recorded in recital with her husband and pianist, John Hannah, for national broadcast, and performed as soloist with leading choirs and orchestras. Her students have been the recipients of prestigious awards, heard in concert in major concert venues and represented Sudbury on the provincial and national level for music festivals. She began directing the Bel Canto Chorus, Sudbury's largest community choir in 1994. She enjoys giving choral workshops, adjudicating, and working with her students.
