In May 2001, 13 strangers from across the globe took up the call to "Blaze an extraordinary trail across 35 states and Provinces of North America..." and after 64 amazing days, for better or for worse, we were strangers no more! So for fond memories for fellow trekkers & maybe a little inspiration for non-trekkers, here is a little taste of our trip of a lifetime... 
...this is a map of the journey we took across North America. We started from New York, travelled the southern route to LA and back to New York again on the northern route. We travelled with Trek America who organise many various tours around the USA, Canada, Alaska & Mexico (see the Trek America brochure for a full list). The one we were on is called the Trailblazer tour and is the longest they offer. It's made up of two legs, Transcontinental South & Transcontinental North, and you can start in LA if you prefer or do just one of the legs as both our parallel groups did. A parallel group is another separate trek group with their own tour leader who follow the same route as you. Our bacon trek group had a parallel group on Transcontinental South, led by Mike, and another parallel group on Transcontinental North, led by Mel who coincidentally is married to Mark, our second tour leader. That's not too confusing is it?!
