VideoFACT 101 (answers to common questions)
VideoFACT receives over 200 applications each deadline and they choose
the songs they like the best for funding (about 45 per round). The maximum
grant is $15,000 based on a total budget of $30,000. Although
they expect the band to match the grant, they do accept donated services.
Donated services come from the production and the crew. If a Director normally
earns 10% of the total budget he would then invoice $1500 cash and $1500
donated. We try to make up the donated half of the ledger (unless you can
match the grant yourself!). My expectation from the artist is that they
make up the difference between $15k and the grant awarded.
We will find a director and a production company interested in working on
your application. I will listen to your music, find out what kind of video
you'd like to make, and then match you to the right team. The director will
then contact you to discuss video ideas and write up a treatment while I
do the budget and complete the application. An additional expense for non-local
bands is that they have get themselves to Toronto for the shoot.
We could always work a shoot schedule to coincide with a tour that brings
you to town.
The meeting to decide the winners takes place one month after the
deadline. Once the results are confirmed, we schedule the shoot, hire crew,
rent gear, etc. It takes 3-6 weeks from beginning to end based on everyone's
availability. We don't get paid until a finished video is delivered to VideoFACT
with all the invoices. You can use the application below or request one
