A Bravo!FACT grant covers up to half of a project's total cost. When additional financing is not available, the other half often consists of donations. The maximum amount awarded is $25,000 with the average amount of a grant in the $10,000 - $15,000 range. Payment of the award is made upon delivery of the completed project (on Betacam SP) together with a detailed breakdown of expenditures. Funding is reserved for new projects. Awards are not granted to works in progress.
The subjects of Bravo!FACT videos may include: dance (classical, modern, ethnic), music (classical, contemporary, world beat, blues, jazz), spoken word (poetry, prose, theatre), opera, film technique (animation), visual arts (architecture, painting, sculpture). The copyright is retained by the awardee, while Bravo! and its affiliated and related services receive non-exclusive broadcast and non-broadcast rights. Projects with running times of up to 4 minutes are preferred. Funding is awarded on the basis of merit.
