FACTOR Video Fund

To Be Eligible
· applicants must be Canadian-owned and controlled labels, record production companies or Canadian artists
· applicants must own the Canadian copyright of the video and of the master sound recording
· the sound recording, which the video supports, must have FACTOR-recognized distribution
· the sound recording, which the video supports, must be released in the 12 months prior to FACTOR's receipt of the application.
· the sound recording, which the video supports, must be recorded and mixed in Canada
· the video must be in support of a full-length sound recording (10 tracks or 40 minutes of recorded material)
· the video must be shot in Canada.

Canadian Content Criteria
· The artist must be Canadian Citizens or Landed Immigrants residing in Canada.
· The music and lyrics must be written or co-written by a Canadian.
· Master recording of the song was recorded and mixed in Canada.
Two of the following are required:
a) Video director is Canadian
b) Video production company is Canadian
c) Video production facility is located in Canada
d) The video producer must be Canadian.

Eligible Costs

· are only those incurred after the application has been received at FACTOR
· are only those incurred in Canada, at Canadian facilities and for Canadians residing in Canada
· are those indicated on the budget page of the application form only.

Donated Services
FACTOR will recognize donated services from royalty performers. A donated service is made if the royalty player agrees to perform in the video without receiving payment for his services. Royalty performers are those who will be receiving monies from the sale of the product. FACTOR will recognize no more than 50% of the total eligible budget as donated services.

Ineligible Costs
· Shipping or travel costs to or from destinations outside of Canada, management fees, legal fees, promotion, manufacturing,
· local transportation and GST/HST are ineligible. Cash payments are not acceptable to FACTOR.

Maximum # of Grants Available
· no company can qualify for more than two videos per fiscal year (April 1, 2001 - March 31, 2002) and no more than one video per artist per year
· each artist is further limited to three FACTOR video grants in the lifetime of the program.

Funding Process
All proposals are reviewed by FACTOR's Board of Directors and decisions are based on the strength of the Marketing and Promotion plan for the sound recording project which the video will support. The current success of the album will be taken into consideration. Please include a detailed marketing plan for the album and video.

Important Notes
· All applications MUST be legible. Applications must be completed in ink.
· Applications must be completed by the applicant, not by a video production company.
· Applicants are expected to produce their video based on this application. FACTOR reserves the right to withdraw any grant if the video produced differs significantly from the synopsis submitted with this application.
· Processing and reviewing of applications will take approximately 8 weeks from the deadline. All applicants will be contacted by mail when results are available.
· FACTOR does not provide video funding for sound recordings released only as singles or compilation CDs.
· All information must be completed on a current original FACTOR supplied application form. Self-generated computer forms or applications faxed to the FACTOR office cannot be processed.
· FACTOR must be notified in writing of any changes made to the original application.
· FACTOR reserves the right to reject any application, for any reason or to make modifications to the budget submitted.
· Approved applicants must enter into a contract with FACTOR that specifies the terms of the grant.
· Program guidelines may be subject to change and will be applied to any application submitted.
· For any application that is rejected by the Board of Directors, the same song cannot be resubmitted for another deadline.
· A copy of the fully executed distribution agreement with a FACTOR-recognized distributor for the finished product must be submitted with your application. FACTOR reserves the right to disqualify this application if the status of the recognized distributor changes prior to approval of this application.
· FACTOR will issue a T4A tax receipt to you for the calendar year the funds were disbursed.
· All material submitted will be returned only if a self-addressed, stamped envelope is enclosed. Please ensure that your envelope is large enough to accommodate your complete package.
· If you are successful in receiving funding from FACTOR, you will be required to respond to a Questionnaire about your project.
