General Colin L. Powell

Champion of Freedom, the first Black American to be appointed

and hold the highest military rank in the United States as he became

chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in 1989.

Reverend Jesse Jackson

Champion of Freedom, a full supporter of Dr. King.  In 1988 Rev. Jackson ran for President. He won some state primary elections, thus becoming the first African-American to be a serious candidate for the office of Presidency.

Mrs. Rosa Parks

Champion of Freedom, the lady who changed the attitude of a nation

when she refused to give up her bus seat to a white passenger,

on December 1, 1955 in Montgomery, Alabama.

Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Champion of Freedom, During the 1950's and 1960's Dr. King led the

struggle of Black America for positive change through non violent means.

He was awarded the Nobel Peace prize and gave his life that all Americans

may have equal and civil rights.
