ADVOCACY FOR ENVIRONMENTAL RESTORATION (ARE)

ADVOCATING FOR RESTORATION OF NATURAL ENVIRONMENT IN ZAMBIA

Our focus as Advocacy for Environmental Restoration (ARE).

Advocacy for Environmental Restoration will in particular seek to contribute to knowledge based sustainable use of the Kafue river basin. This will involve the following activities;

 (i) Advise and sensitise Kafue river basin communities on statutory environmental regulations and help to develop capacity for environ-mental monitoring and protection of KRB.

 (ii) Monitor industries along the KRB with respect to detrimental industrial effluent discharges and support the implementation of measures aimed at timely interventions.

 (iii) ARE will contribute to and promote the carrying out of research into specific pollution problems aimed at supporting the use of cleaner production technologies.

 (v) Lobby regulating authorities for incentives for industries implementing KRB restoration programmes.
