Paper 01/2017 - The Use of SecUrAccess Software to Protect Information Stored In a Computer.
Jacey Mariadass
Main Author from Politeknik Ungku Omar
Abstract - Information has great importance for any organizations and should be adequately protected especially information stored on a computer. Physical security is considered as a part of information systems security. Small devices such as USB flash drives via USB ports are sometimes allowed in organizations. Due to its small size, low cost and large storage capacity of USB flash drive, the usage is very demanding for storage purpose. Therefore, data storage without adequate operational and logical controls can pose a serious threat to information confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA). The use of USB flash drives can; (i) increase the risk of data theft (when there is no control on copying information from a computer), (ii) data loss (when a physical device is lost) and (iii) data exposure (when sensitive data is exposed to third party without consent). The idea to develop SecUrAccess software is to keep the information stored in user’s laptop or computer from being transferred to USB flash drive via USB port. This software can minimize the data theft incident and virus infection by not allowing unauthorized users to plug their USB flash drive. The authorized user needs to define a USB access rights policy to make these USB flash drive write protected or not in order to be accessed through the system. In term of security purpose, the user is required to enter a password each time to change the policy. The software is equipped with a high level of security. Whenever an unauthorized user enters the wrong password three times, the computer will log off automatically. The software is fully developed using Microsoft Visual Studio Ultimate 2010. Overall, the feedback result shows majority respondents agreed on the effectiveness of SecUrAccess software and are satisfied with the software.

Abstract - Small Aircraft Towing Device is an idea inspired by aircraft push back truck which is already being used. The device is now being made focusing on the Cessna 172 Sky-hawk. We are designing the device to be Eco- friendly, less workload for personnel and safer. Push back trucks uses diesel to operate but our device will be operated by a 12V battery which does not release any harmful gases that pollutes the environment. Using tow bars requires man power and consumes energy. So, our device is made to be semi-automated and uses two high torque motors which obviously require less energy. Manual works are done when using tow bars which might be quite dangerous. To have a safe working environment the device is controlled by wired controller. The personnel that is towing the aircraft can stay approximately 5m away from the aircraft. This project has the capabilities to give some major impacts to the aviation world. This project will come handy to many aircraft owners and airlines when if it is upgraded in the future yet for now we will focus on Cessna 172 Sky-hawk.

Abstract -
This study investigated the efficiency of operating Automotive Wastewater and Rice Straw leachate for biogas production in anaerobic reactor.  A Continuous Stirred Tank reactor (CSTR) was employed and controlled under mesophilic condition at temperature of 38°C with 4 liters working volume for approximately 55 days. Different parameters were analyzed which includes  pH, organic loading rate, alkalinity ratio, COD removal and effect of Zinc and Copper which runs on automotive wastewater towards anaerobic digestion and biogas production. At initial stage of experiment, Mono Digestion (single substrates) of Automotive Waste Water (AWW) was conducted. The reactor was unstable which indicated by the decrease of biogas production, low pH below value of 6.0 and as well as low COD removal efficiency with value in range of 63.4%. The instability of the reactor seems to be linked to heavy metal inhibition contained in automotive wastewater which composed of inorganic material. However, co digestion of automotive wastewater with Synthetics Wastewater (SWW) enhances the performance of the reactor with highest methane production 0.140 L of CH4 / day at day 42. The nutrient available in the Synthetic Wastewater could promote the synergistic effect in co digestion with Automotive Wastewater and hence performed better than mono digestion.  This study reveals that co digestion AWW with rice straw leachate (RSL) perform better than in mono digestion of AWW with the highest COD removal rate at 73%. This findings implies co-digestion process can provide not only the necessary substrates and microorganisms but also the appropriate balance of nutrients to create favorable conditions for the methanogens to thrive.

Abstract -
The signalized Intersection Design and Research Aid (SIDRA) software as an assistance for timing , capacity and performance analysis of isolated intersections. Delay at signalized intersections reflects the incompetence in the signal timing because of consecutive signalized intersections on the particular  site. It is also represents a direct cost in terms of fuel consumption on road networks during inactivity and idleness. Furthermore, one of the significant ways to improve the performance of the network is by coordinating traffic signal in intersections. This study was done to highlight the ability of improving the level of service (LOS) of three leg intersections in Bukit Chedang, Seremban using SIDRA software version 6.0. In addition, the study aims to compare the results between an average delay, queue distance, travel speed, degree of saturation, performance index, fuel consumptions  and total CO2 before and after upgrade current situation of traffic flow at study area. The data required for the study were mainly collected through video filming technique. The calculation and simulation  are constructed with the software SIDRA version 6.0 which is used to design and analyze the roundabout  and intersection. The result obtained show that with addition a new lane and  slip lane at all critical lane, the  LOS can be improve to better grade from F to C. However, the value of delay, queue, PI , Fuel consumptions, total CO2 and speed is better after optimization by SIDRA software. The average reduction of delay before and after optimization is from 224.3 sec to 25.0 Sec (88.9%), the speed on the road manage improve from 7.9 km/hr to 28.6 km/hr (72.4%) , Performance Index reduce up to 83.4% and fuel consumptions decrease from 269.6 l/hr to 96.3 l/hr (64.4%).  It will be beneficial for the traffic planners in making judicious and decisions regarding control type at intersection.
