Main Author from Politeknik Port Dickson

Abstract - The purpose of this research is to examine the effect of integrating the mobile and CAD technology on designing process of Malaysian polytechnic architecture students in producing a creative product. A website is set up based on Caroll’s minimal theory, while mobile and CAD technology integration is based on Brown and Campione’s technology of learning theory. This study utilized a quasi-experimental method. Final semester students of four (4) polytechnics are chosen as a research sample where sixty (60) students are in the treatment group and another sixty (60) students are in the control group. Final product is evaluated by an expert in architecture field using the validated instrument developed by researcher based on Creative Product Analysis Model (CPAM). The inferential statistics namely T-Test with a significant level p = 0.01 were utilized. Research outcome shows that there is a significant difference between the treatment group product (M=79.1) and control group product (M=70.5). This research contributes to the use of real case in the development of an architectural website, in the use of mobile technology as media information sources, the use of CAD technology integration in designing process and in the construction of validated instrument which is used to evaluate creative architectural products.

Paper 02/2012 - Pedestrian Facilities for the Disabled Persons in Lukut
Prabu, Gue Sey Meng & Lim Sern Chean
Main Author from Politeknik Port Dickson
Abstract -
Observation was done at a region of Lukut Town where certain issues was found out. Lukut town is lack in certain community facilities which mainly can be seen in the facilities for the disabled persons. The main objective of providing a facility is for the reason to comfort the daily life processes. The aim that wanted to be achieved is having proper disabled person’s facilities basically the pedestrians with tactile pavement and ramp-up. This unimplemented facility creates problems to the peoples living in this town. Throughout the research certain facilities was found out in bad condition and proposals of new design of facilities is implemented.

Paper 03/2012 - Design Improvement for Disable Pedestrian at Nilai
Noor Hayati Ismail & Nur Nadia Shahadan
Main Author from USIM
Abstract - The research is to improve disable pedestrian and enhance disable pedestrian at Nilai, Negeri Sembilan. This research try to solve the problem that disable pedestrians have considerably difficult.  It is designed to enhance the awareness of residents and safety needs that disabled pedestrians require and make ameliorate pedestrian. It focuses on the use of pedestrian facilities such as curb ramps, curb extension, intersection geometry and handicapped parking. However not all of pedestrian users appreciate pedestrian. So, this design determine them use this pedestrian with responsibilities. Although every attempt has been made to make this report complete, there are other sources available from special interest and government groups.

Paper 04/2012 - Climate Variation as One of the Source of a Building Defects

Abstract -
Malaysia is the country that experienced hot, humid weather. Sun and rain are the two elements with the potential for destroying the beauty of buildings and various other negative effects. Such as building design in this area need special care, especially to overcome the negative effects of climate elements, especially the intake of water or humidity is very dangerous. Beautiful buildings will become dull in a short time. Damansara Utama city also part of Malaysia. So it’s showing Damansara Utama city also facing the same problem such as climate variation problem on building wall. One of the solutions to improve performance on the facade of the building systems is to provide in line with all the advanced age of this growth. Using aluminium cladding as wall cladding materials for the building is one step to prevent the walls from the stale and broken. Installation and maintenance of the system is easily and quickly. Most buildings built now widely adopted this technology because it can reduce maintenance costs for the paint finish on the walls. Most architects use this method to design the installation of aluminium cladding on buildings. It`s also could give the impression of the beauty aspect of the building through a variety of designs issued by the employer. Installation of cladding systems are able to save time in terms of maintenance and the ability to provide protection to the buildings provide a huge interest in the construction industry.

Abstract -
This paper present the aspects of the sustainable sun shading device to building environment. Sun Shading devices affect natural lighting, ventilation, sola gain, to the overall building. Besides, it is used to provide shade, covered for private place and also vary the facade. Using shading devices implementing bioclimatic design concepts can provide maximum comfort to the occupants and the usage of energy minimally. Sun shading device efforts to reduce the energy load have been done by blocking and filtering the sunlight into the building. This is critical for occupant visual and thermal comfortable for minimizing mechanical cooling loads. Direct sun is acceptable in less demanding spaces, such as circulation zones, lobbies, eating areas, etc.
