NYISO UCAP - Application Proposal |
 |
 |
 |
 |
 |
NYISO is a not-for-profit and tax-exempt corporation organized under the laws of the
State of New York. The business purpose of the NYISO is to manage the safe and reliable
dispatch of bulk electricity through the New York control area power grid. The NYISO
invoices its customers on a monthly basis for the transactions in the energy, ancillary
services, and UCAP markets. Manual processes are currently used for the UCAP markets and
processes. These involve receiving and sending information via e-mail, storing and archiving
data as a series of spreadsheets, and manually transferring data from one application to
another. The current processes do not meet SAS-70 audit standards and a new, more automated,
process is desired.
I am presently working in a 4-membered team to create a response to RFP document for the UCAP
application. The goal of the NYISO UCAP project is to automate the processes of
determining the capacity requirement of each LSE(Load Serving Entity) and Conduct strip,
monthly, and deficiency auctions, including submission of offers and dissemination of
results. I am also involved in creating a mock prototype of the application to demonstrate
a scenario based use of the tool.
