Leah Lewis
Leah Lewis was one of the nine lovely ladies to charter Alpha Eta chapter on April 7, 1927 and she was the oldest living charter member. The Psychology Club on the campus of Virginia Union University was named in her honor. She was also featured in the Ivy Leaf for her life-long service to Alpha Kappa Sorority, Inc.

Janet Jones Ballard was born in New York City, the daughter of William and Anna Charity Jones. She began her elementary education in the schools of Mamaroneck, New York, but later return to Virginia, their original home. She earned the Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Virginia Union University and the Master of Education in Supervision and Administration from Virginia State University. Initiated in the Alpha Eta Chapter as a student at Virginia Union University, Mrs. Ballard gave more than fifty years of active service to Alpha Kappa Alpha. Supreme Basileus Janet Jones Ballard moved the programs of Alpha Kappa Alpha into the international arena with her program theme “Service with a Global Perspective: Reaching Out to Touch Mankind”. Consequently, the Sorority became international not only in its membership and chapters, but also in its programs of service. This great move initiated by Soror Janet Jones Ballard, reflected the Sorority’s emergence as an active participant in the world community, continuing that with a membership extending from coast-to-coast over the United States and as far as West Germany, Alaska, the Bahamas, Virgin Islands and Africa.

Dena is currently working for Wachovia Securities. In the future, she plans to get involved in real estate and do commercial print modeling.

Katrina, the class of 2005 Valedictorian, is a first year graduate student pursuing her MSW in Social Work at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Kachena Calbert-Boyd (Class of 2005)

Kachena is is an Operations Manager inside the John C. Kluczynski Federal Building in downtown Chicago. She is also pursuing her MBA in General Management from Devry University Keller Graduate School.

Allison plans to open a residential facility for children/adolescents with behavioral and mental health issues.

Tia A. Green (Class of 2005)

Tia received her master's in social work at the University of Illinois. Upon graduation in December 2005, she will be moving back to Washington, DC where she plans to provide individual therapy to youth with severe emotional and behavioral problems.

Tiffany is a seventh grade public school teacher with the William Penn School district in South Philadelphia and a single mother of the love of her life, her 2 1/2 year old son Kian.

Latisha entered her first year in Medical School at Boston University School of Medicine.

Brittany plans to begin graduate school for Counselor Education. She recently became the Social Studies department head at her school.

LaTasha is currently employed with Capital One Bank in the Fraud Division. She plans to attend VCU for graduate school in the spring to pursue a Masters in Business Administration.

Sharae is a first year graduate student pursuing her MSW in Social Work at Virginia Commonwealth University. She is still employed with La Casa.

Tiffany is currently an executive assistant manager at Walgreens and she loves it.

Heidi Wilson (Class of 2004)

Heidi currently works in Corporate Communications with Capital One. She also does PR work for Special Olympics of VA, .a non profit organization. Soon, she plans to start working on her Master of Science Degree in Strategic Public Relations at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Apryl-Dawn is pursuing a double Masters degree in Childhood Education and Special Education from the College of New Rochelle. She graduates Spring 2007. Her hobbies are sewing and playing with her cats.
