Miss Virginia Union University 2005-2006 Soror Dioni Torres, was crowned Miss CIAA 2006 at the 61st Annual CIAA Men's and Woman's Basketball Tournament in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Alltel Words of Wisdom Scholarship Winner

Renowned poet and author Soror Maya Angelou congratulates Soror Candace Moore, winner of the Alltel's Words of Wisdom Scholarship Essay Competition. Soror Candace was one of 10 winners selected nationwide based on her response to the question, "What words of wisdom would you pass on to those who come after you?" Soror Candace received a $4,000 scholorship for her essay during a reception at the William J. Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Sorors Inducted into the Kappa Eta Chapter of Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Society

On December 4, 2005, Soror Alneesa Clanton, Soror Natasha Cover, Soror Vernita Davis, Soror Latia Etheredge, Soror Candace Moore, Soror Joy Starke, and Soror Tanikka Toler were inducted into Virginia Union University's Kappa Eta Chapter of Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Society. Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Society is a general scholarship honor society open to junior and senior men and women in all academic areas who meet the requirements of the society. The purpose of Kappa Alpha Mu Honor Society is to promote high scholarship; to encourage sincere and zealous endeavor in all fields of knowledge and service; to cultivate a high order of personal living; and to develop an appreciation for scholarly work and scholarly endeavor in others.
