Alpha Eta Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Alpha Eta Herstory

Alpha Eta was the second Black Greek Sorority to be chartered on the campus of Virginia Union University on April 7, 1927 by 9 lovely ladies. The Sorority was chartered for scholarship promotion, vocational guidance, encouragement of foreign studies, and promotion of human and civil rights. The characteristics of an Alpha Kappa Alpha lady are seriousness, studiousness, and responsibility.

Today the Sorority seeks to keep a balance between the importance of an individual, strength of organization of women, of courage, and capacity. The characteristics will always be united by the ladies acceptance of common values and their work towards common goals.
