Musings in WritingsMy Tower of Babel24 Aug 2002
Some friends were visiting. I hurriedly cleared up my home.
The study table had books strewn all over. I also had books in the living room, on the dining table. etc etc.
I collected all the books and simply piled them up from the largest book at the bottom to the smallest book on top.
After I cleared up, I was amazed when I looked at the pile of books.
It looks like a Tower of books (14 of them). It is as tall as my forearm.
My non Christian husband commented it reminded him of the Tower of Babel.
Haha. Books alone cannot bring one to heaven. So it indeed is a Tower of Babel!
In the pile are books like "Confessions" by Augustine and "Hail Holy Queen" by Scott Hahn, and "A Concise History of the Catholic Church" and "Learning Latin" and "Catechism of the Catholic Church" ... etc etc .
But the biggest book at the bottom is my "The New Oxford Annotated Bible". The smallest book on top is my "Good News Bible".
Although it is a Tower of Babel, something is correct there. The ascent to Heaven should begin with the Word of God and end with the Word of God.
