Musings in Writings

Religious Brazilians
1 Jul 2002

After Brazil won the World Cup, 3 of the players knelt down, held hands and bowed their heads to the ground and prayed. They prayed for a looong time.

Then they got up, and took off their jerseys to show off their T-shirts with the captions "Jesus Loves you", "100% Jesus" etc. Before their Prize Presentations, the entire Brazilian team including their officials knelt down in a circle on the pitch to give thanksgiving prayer.

Despite their excitement about their glorious win, they didn't forget God.

Some of the Brazilian players made the Sign of the Cross before they entered the match.

I am touched by their display of faith for God.

(Brazil is 70% Catholic for those who may want to know.)

God bless them for their devotion. It was beautiful witnessing of the Christian Faith.
