[entrance of the apartment building Anne Frank used to live in, with 1935 ghosts] 1935 Ghosts: Sanne Ledermann and Anne Frank playing, about six years old. Getty images has two photos of them outside in 1935: with toys and standing.

Sanne was gassed in Auschwitz concentration camp on 19 November 1943, at 15 years old.

Anne died of typhus (doubtless starvation was a factor, too) in Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in early spring 1945, also at 15 years old.

Today:
The apartment building where the Frank family used to live. They lived in unit 37-II: the bay window on the left with the horizontal bars, and the three windows to the left of that. Their entrance was via this stairway. The street name is Merwedeplein, which Anne fondly called "the Merry" (Critical Edition diary: 8 Nov '43, 7 March '44).
In 2005, the apartment was restored to 1930's decor, is a place for visiting writers. Many interior pictures were taken more info, links.

(Photo taken in autumn 2003.)

cross street,
turn left,
see another "ghost"

go inside,
see more
"ghosts"

walk this way,
backwards

teleport to
Mr. Frank's business

walk past ghosts,
look across stairs
