Notes:

• The pasted sheets are usually illustrated pasted onto the side because this conveys the idea better and at least one pasted sheet was pasted like that (p. 91, 91a-b, see CE p. 151-2), pasted on the unbound side of the page. However, when a photo of a diary page proves that a pasted in sheet was attached to the top or bottom of a page, it is illustrated that way. (However, this led to a strange depiction of a photo pasted on the original page 93. The pasted sheet looks like it formed a tunnel, which it of course did not.) • All information is gleaned from The Diary of Anne Frank: the Critical Edition, by the Netherlands State Institute for War Documentation. Mainly the handwriting analysis article and the notes at the back of the book. (I am not more exact about all of this because I did the research just for my own curiosity several years ago.)
• Little arrows in the illustration indicate photos of the diary pages they point to. There are black and white photos of pages in The Critical Edition. "CE" pages refer you to that book. There are also several color photos of pages from this first diary in Anne Frank: Beyond the Diary, a photographic Remembrance. "AFBD" pages refer you to that book.
• Due to the tall illustration, this prints better in Microsoft Internet Explorer.
• All of the photos Anne pasted in are from before they went into hiding. Many are of Anne much younger.

However, the photo of the first loose sheet shows that it is not the same size as the first diary's pages, so these missing sheets are not the first loose sheets.     Online, there are two photos of a very good facsimilie of the first diary, including pages 28-9: USHMM online exhibit. Further, the web page about the facsimilie project includes these pages (both the original diary and the facsimilie): click the image to get a huge image.
	29-30	This sheet was left blank until 28 Sept '42. (See above for photos of page 29. See next for photos of page 30-31. Also, the first three photos on these pages are seen in the CE, p. 190.)
	31	28 Sept 1942. She pasted in a letter from her father (dated 12 May 1939). It is in an envelope, which she pasted his photo on. (Online, there is a zoomable image of a very good facsimilie of the first diary, including pages 30-31: USHMM online exhibit. Offline, AFBD p. 42 has a color photo of the diary opened to pages 30-1. [The fourth photo, mentioned above, is also missing here.])

	33	28 Sept 1942 (Perhaps she put Jacque's letter on this page. She writes, "This is [Jacque's letter]," she writes a little more, but not as much as she usually wrote on a page.)

It appears that part of this sheet was torn out for 5 Dec 1942 because the 5 Dec 1942 letter (and presumably about half of page 99) was found loose (see CE, p. 298).
