:: Member Bios :: :: Band Bio :: Smalls and Jason were to sing in the band. Smalls playing bass, Jason on guitar, and China on drums. Soon after, jason said "Uhh, I can't sing and do crazy guitar stuff at the same time..." which was understandable because he had never really played guitar before, just as Smalls had never played bass before. So Jason knew a guy at his work who played guitar, but that never fell through. Time passed and Jason suggested Ted. They talked to Ted who agreed because he's a mo-mo. Anyway, Jason couldn't play guitar, Smalls couldn't play bass, and China wasn't the best drummer in the world. So, they switched it up. China had an obsession to play bass, and he picked it up suprisingly quick. Yeah, go China. W00t! Smalls, who had played drums since 6th grade took that spot, damn he's good. Jason and Ted were to play guitars, Ted being lead. But Again, Jason couldn't sing and learn guitar, so the group went on looking for a second guitarist. 12 Gauge Valentine played their first show at RJ's party along a few other bands including Professor Marvel, Another New Beginning and a few others. The band soon realized how badly they needed a second guitar. China said "Hey fools, fuckin' Ogre plays guitar..." ('Ogre' is Craig) So, Craig came along and jammed with us and we liked the sound of 2 guitars. Ted had a whole slew of melodies in his head, and he started teaching China and Craig the songs and helping them get their parts. Smalls started writing all the lyrics and has been doing so with the occasional help of China (and yes, Craig, a line from you too). But anyway you look at it, 12 Guage Valentine tries to bring together a blend of melodic punk/emo with an occasional pop punk twist on the side. And, uh... yeah, the rest is history... |
