Here are a few odds and ends having to do with one of my favorite anime series, the classic 宇宙戦艦ヤマト Uchuu Senkan Yamato ("Space Battleship Yamato"--best known on these shores as Star Blazers).
First, above is one of the few Yamato cels I'm lucky enough to own. The uppermost of its two layers was originally used in the 1983 Final Yamato calendar, but this cel has seen plenty of action since leaving Japan, too, appearing in the book Robotech Art I and in an issue of the magazine Animezine.
Several animation groups that worked on the first series brought a variety of designs to it--so, in case it might be of interest, here's a chart that illustrates some of them.
Here are two glimpses of the crowd at a first showing of "Be Forever Yamato" on Aug. 2, 1980.
Calling all Desslok fans--here are illustrations from the front and back of a bag from a Yamato doujinshi circle!
The next two are from the doujinshi-style catalog for the "Yamato Party '97" fan event, which has a listing of participating circles, schedule of activities, and Yamato-related features:
The catalog's front cover
The catalog's back cover (in which Kodai and Analyzer attempt to rescue Mii-kun from atopt the rocket anchor)
