A Couple of Yamato Prizes!
It took a nearly 20-year search, but Bucky has finally found her holy grail: an honest-to-gosh cel of Desslar! Star Blazers, with its peek at His Blueness in the bath, is what hooked her hard on anime in the first place...
And here's one of my most treasured items: an animation drawing of my favorite Yamato character, Daisuke Shima, from the original 1974 TV series! Noboru Ishiguro, animation director for that series and the 1978 film さらば宇宙戦艦ヤマト Saraba Uchuu Senkan Yamato ("Arrivederci Yamato"), signed it for me at Anime Expo '99. (I also have the matching cel, which was signed by Star Blazers voice performers Amy Howard [Nova] and Ken Messeroll [Derek Wildstar]; the cel's ink lines beneath the paint are faded, though, so I'd best not risk it to the scanner.)
