Research Findings

The first career I researched is an attorney.  Her daily routine is really never the same every day.  First, she arrives at the office around 7 o’clock in the morning. When she gets to the office she returns any calls from the previous day or any new calls she needs to make. Next, she gets to work typing out drafts or information’s, she also does paper work.  Finally, she goes to any trials that are scheduled for that day. She finishes work around 8 o’clock or sometimes she is at the office all night long.  Salaries range from around $30,000 to $35,000 a year for a staring attorney.  For this career you need to be sociable, calm, and be able to deal with other people.  Basically what is needed is to have a good personality to be able to handle other people.  I think the learning style that appeals to this career mostly is a kinesthetic learner because the person has to get out there and do the work.

The second career is a medical social worker.  Her daily routine is almost always the same.  First, she arrives at the hospital around 8 o’clock in the morning. She is not like regular social workers; she works at the hospital investigating cases where the child has been hurt that may be related to child abuse.  What she does when she arrives at the hospital is finish any unfinished work she left from the other day.  Next, she immediately starts on her caseloads either from the previous day or a brand new case.  Sometimes she visits patients in the hospital and sometimes she goes to their offices.  Salaries range from around $20,000 to $25,000 a year for a starting medical social worker.  For this career a person needs to be sociable as well, be able to handle stress and the attitudes of other people.  I think the learning style that appeals to this career is mostly a kinesthetic learner because they do best by going out there and doing the work.

My learning style, and temperament are good for both careers.  I am a kinesthetic learner, therefore I learn by doing it rather then my seeing or hearing it.  This is helpful in any career.  The temperament that I have is calm, and I have a sociable personality. Communicating with people is what I do best and being able to handle myself under pressure.  However, my birth order characteristics are not so great, I have only child characteristics.  Basically that tells you that I am the type of person who needs a lot of attention.  In most areas I am find, and I think that I would be able to handle either career.
