USS MONTEREY (CG-61) I reported to USS Monterey in Newport News, Virginia June 23, 1996 as an FCC (E-7) and was assigned to CF Division as Leading Chief Petty Officer and was involved with system level testing and maintenance control of the entire AEGIS Combat System.
During my time onboard we went though an extensive overhaul for most of the first year when new upgraded systems were installed. The rest of my time onboard was spent testing, evaluating and recommending improvements to these systems.
While onboard, we traveled to several places to include San Juan, Puerto Rico; Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico; Mayport, Florida; Pensacola. Florida and New York, New York.
We participated in many training exercises.I left Monterey on June 7, 1998 when I was transferred to Naval Recruiting District (NRD), Chicago, Illinois.
Enroute to NRD Chicago I attended Recruiting school in Pensacola, Florida for 5 weeks.
I reported to NRD Chicago on August 26, 1998 where I was assigned to Navy Recruiting Station (NRS) Merrillville, Indiana where I served as a Navy Recruiter for a period of one year. On August 9,1999 I was transfered to NRS Valparaiso, Indiana where I am currently serving as the Recruiter-In-Charge.
