"Enthusiasm is the mother of all effort and without it, nothing great was ever accomplished."
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
The picture is not what I look like everyday. I'm a more "let-the-hair-down" kind of girl
Well, let me give you the scoop in a nutshell of my life here, then you can learn in more detail about me throught the rest of the page. Don't forget to sign my guestbook!!!
Although I was borm in Philadelphia, I was raised in the beautiful Pocono Mountains. You know, the "Honeymoon Capital of the World...." Anyway, I guess it was cool and all, but it gets old after a while when you live in a haven for the tourists. I guess it's the same if you live in Orlando or something. Anyway, I graduated, proudly, from Pocono Mountain High School in 1996. I went to Wilkes University, which is in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, for two years and was majoring in communications, in hope for a career in radio, whether it be on-air or in the promotion department.
Actually, throughout my two years of college I already had a part-time job as a DJ on a local country station and loved it!! I really focused most of my time and energy on the radio station, instead of my school work, especially during my sophomore year. I started having the mentality that, "Hey--I'm already doing what I love and don't need a degree, so what is college for???"
Then, in the summer of 1998, after my sophomore year, there was a job opening in the promotion department at Froggy 101, and I had always assisted that dept. out anyway by doing mascots, or lending an extra hand at bigger station events. Also, I guess you could say I am one of those wierd people with a lot of crazy ideas, yearning to find a way to use them, and make a decent living at the same time. (Wait, I think I just contradicted myself. Radio--Good Money? Ha!) But, at any rate, I went for the job, and got it!! With a full-time gig, I made the choice of leaving Wilkes. It was a tough choice, but in two more years, I would have been looking for a job and may not have found one. I know so many college graduates stuck in jobs they hate, that do not even correspond to their major. I didn't ever want to end up like that! If there is any piece of advice I can give to anyone, it is one of my other sayings:
open the door!"
So enough said....I love my job as the Promotion Director of Froggy 101!!
So, where do I go from here? I am not really sure where I what the next move is for me. I have a real passion for country music, (That's why I moved my website to Nashville from CollegePark!) and want to stay involved with some aspect of it. Eventually, I'd like to work with a particular artist or group, as a publicist, or a key member of their managment or promotions team. I wouldn't mind working in the promotions department of a record company either. Basically, I want to be in Nashville! But for now, I am totally satisfied and having a complete blast in radio promotions. The company I work for is wonderful, and my co-workers are so fun!!
