Phase III: Engine In
Home

Please mate!!  This was the hard part of actually getting the engine and tranny back together.  This was the first point when I was actually starting to feel like I knew what I was doing.  Thread locked on the flexplate and matched up the two parts and slowly pulled the tranny in on an old jack.  I put the torque converter on and tried to put them together.  Then I realized that it wasn't all the way on then I tried again.  Whoo hoo! I tightened up the bolts and they were one again.  This was a hard job to do by myself.

Reunited cause it feels so good!

Lifted it all up and started to slide back to my II.  I was just a little eager.

Up, up and away!!!

It's in! What a pretty sight.  I had to dismantle some of it, to lift it with the Cherry picker.  This was a momentous occasion.  Before the fun of cramming in the headers (one from above and one from below).

I'm Home!

This is a side angle picture of the same situation.  I had just put it in and then realized the hood wouldn't fit anymore.  I had to get a 2" lift for the carb because it is so wide that the throttle linkage was scraping against the valve covers.

In side

I started building it up again as best I could.  I needed a mechanic to finish it.
