George Marshall High School Wins it all in the High School Division of The EV Challenge and Road Rally held last week in Cocoa Beach Florida with 2 Virginia Power sponsored EV Grand Prix cars - The big VP Logo on the Hood!! One of the 2 cars, a Virginia Power Geo Metro with NICad batteries participated in a 74 mile Road Rally from Cocoa Beach to Orlando. The final results of that competition is not available yet, but the car completed all 74 mile with juice to spare! The driver said "it could have run forever!" 15 Students from George Marshall and Falls Church High School participated in the event. The instructor - George Price gave all the glory to Virginia Power! He said we may not be as aggressive as we were but we paved the way for students then and now to gain the knowledge and have the opportunity to participated in events such as this. There were over 40 registers in the events including production type vehicles! George sends a special Thanks to Kevin Curtis for spending time to train the students on the Geo Metro and also a big THANK YOU to Jim Carroll for helping out with the crimping tool! And none of this would not be possible without the infamous DAVE ROOP! It's nice to know the Virginia Power EVGP Legend lives on! Warm congratulations to all of you great folks at VA Power and at George Marshall and Falls Church High Schools! It's great to know that the effort and enthusiasm remains alive -- and continues to reward our students with a sense of achievement and victory! Did anyone take any photos or video? We'd love to see it! Regards, Dave Goldstein
