Gary Sumner is one of the inventive members in EVA/DC. If you look closely at his car you can tell he works as a technician for a copier company because he has used alot of old copier parts to build his EV including parts to build the pot box and charger. As a matter of fact, one of Gary's potboxes has found its way into a reburbished GE Elec-Trak owned by EVA/DC Member Eric Miller.
Gary's Nova originally came with an automatic transmission which he removed and replaced with a 4-speed from another Nova. He also fabricated and welded all the battery racks and brackets for his converstion.
The car features an 8" Advanced DC Motor, 1231-C Curtis Controller and a 128 volt battery system comprised of 16 US Battery 8V GC batteries.
Gary and his family have driven the car over 2,000 miles since he installed the new 8-volt batteries. His daughter drives the car to Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, Md.
