Some information has not been fully verified but is believed to be accurate. Typically, used EVs require some degree of "hands on" maintenance and may require a new set of batteries. A typical battery pack, consisting of deep-cycle 6 volt lead-acid "golf cart" type batteries, may cost $800-1200 and with proper watering and care, should last for about 3-4 years before being recycled. Because there are fewer moving parts and little heat to degrade components, EVs can last for 15-20 years or more with routine "do-it-yourself" maintenance. Buyers are advised to inspect for rust.
