A microscopic optical potential for scattering of nucleons,
pions, and K+ mesons by nuclei is constructed in the impulse
approximation. Its applicability in describing the interaction of p, p
+,- , and K+ by light nuclei is investigated. A kinematic
correction, which leads to improved agreement with the experimental data,
is proposed.
