In Blue;

In Blue; this is the third album from the Corrs, and it is the first time since mid-late 1997 that they have released a totally brand new album. They shot to great stardom with "Talk On Corners" in the U.K as well as the majority of Asia, and the apprehension for their next release was high.

As a reviewer, and a fan, it is impossible for me to be completely unbiased. So I will attempt to give the best objective view possible. Fans of the Corrs may be biased because they think that anything the band does is great, while other fans maybe even harsher on their opinions because they expect more from such a talented band. I fall somewhere in between. This album is no doubt a departure from their "classic" sounds that they were producing in "Forgiven Not Forgotten" and to a lesser extent in "Talk On Corners". The band stated in a recent interview that the traditional element was still there, but that it was definitely less prevalent. Either way, we are seeing an evolving Corrs, for which their sound is changing, and it is less traditional and more "pop", than anything else. Is this a marketing ploy or the true Corrs direction ? Who knows, but that's not the point here. I should state firstly that my preferences on the Corrs albums are "FNF" then "TOC" and finally "In Blue", so that you can base your judgment on these inclinations.

The album as a whole is relatively good. By that, I mean there are a few stand out tracks, and a few good tracks. The Corrs previous efforts, "FNF" and "TOC" saw many hits and almost every song on those albums were excellent. This current album misses on some of the tracks, but does hit a few times. It's not surprising that you imagine Shania Twain singing some of these songs and even some of the tracks do sound familiar, but that's because they used the same producer for some of the tracks, John "Mutt" Lange. Is that bad ? Well I guess that depends if you find Shania Twain offensive or not, I personally think she has some good songs. The majority of songs were still penned by the band however.
