Our street and park evangelism depended on setting up a lot of music equipment. Electric guitars, electric cello, microphones, amplifiers, speakers, as well as drums. We practiced setting up our equipment behind the church because we want to be quick about it when we go to the park. |
The key to our ambitious equipment set up was this little red thing. It is a whisper quiet 1000-watt generator by Honda. The thing really was quiet. Five feet away one can comfortably hold a conversation in normal tones. When the band was set up – one couldn’t even tell it was there, even between songs when the speakers were quiet, except for a little bit of exhaust smoke. So why are all these guys crowded around the generator? We couldn’t get it to work. It was like the engine was sort of stuck – it wouldn’t turn over no matter how hard we pulled. The problem turned out to be really stupid. It pays to read directions. When the oil was added to the crankcase, the reservoir was topped up as full as it could go. So full the piston would not move complexly to the bottom, and the engine could not turn over. After we drained the oil to the proper level, it started quite easily. |

One of our skits done to illustrate the effect of sin in our lives, done to the tune of the Pink Panther. The sign on the chair says don’t touch. The three guys did touch, and now they are stuck, captives to the chair. No one can free them….. until a Christian comes along and prays for them, them BANG they are all free. It was really funny how they did it and timed it to the music. |
Another skit, “the sin box”. This skit was done to a narration done by Danny Ciuciui and Alienate guy (Ben Custalow) get enticed into the joy of the box, but ends up stuck. The strong man (Josh Lamont) suggests strength, the drug addict suggests drugs, the mystic suggest meditation, and the playboy suggests sex. None of these work – but rather backfire on poor Ben. The Christian finally comes along and prays for him and God sets him free. |
