The Bone (Boone) Family Genealogy

The Bone family is one of the most difficult families to trace as the surname is spelled a variety of ways yet it is pronouced as BOONE. I have been trying to find my Bone ancestor's parentage for over two years now and still I cannot find the missing link. I know very little of the actual history of this family but can share with you a bit of family folk lore. My great-great grandmother, Elizabeth Bone, firmly believed that she was a direct descendant of Daniel Boone. She passed down this family story quite readily to my own grandmother. I have tried to connect her to this famous family line but at present I cannot find her in any of the Boone family genealogy books.
