THE FIVE POINTS OF ARMINIANISM
THE FIVE ARTICLES OF REMONSTRANCE
In 1609, Jacob Arminius died. His chief students and followers condensed his teaching into Five Articles. There were two main individuals who put the Five Points of Arminianism together: Jan Uytenbogaert assisted by Simon Episcopius. They were his closest associates and most devoted students. [1] So, in 1610, they summarized Arminius' teaching which was against Martin Luther, a principal Theologian of the Protestant Reformation. Now John Calvin, who was alive at the time of Martin Luther, set about to more fully explain the teachings of Martin Luther and the True Protestants in more precise detail in order to present them all to Francis I, King of France. As we will recall, Luther, who was still alive when Calvin composed his Institutes, read Calvins' works and agreed with them all 100% as being an accurate presentation of his (Luthers') teaching and his sermons, and fit to be presented to Francis I, King of France for his edification.
Now Jacob Arminius, basically, had believed himself to be more of a Bible scholar than Martin Luther and he (Arminius) began teaching what disagreed with Luther. Arminius began to draw some students, and also some Roman Catholic prelates who were very interested indeed in Arminius' presentation that seemed to overthrow Luther. Later, the Remonstrants that disagreed with the core teachings of the Reformation summarized their disagreement with Martin Luther into five basic points and called these five Points "The Articles of the Remonstrants" ("they" being the "remonstrants" or objectors to Luthers' teaching, and their objection to the core Doctrines upon which the True Protestant Reformation was based). They had learned these things from Jacob Arminius.
SINCE ARMINIUS' CORE TEACHING WAS IN THESE FIVE POINTS THEY SOON BECAME KNOWN AS THE FIVE POINTS OF ARMINIANISM
The Five Points of Arminianism were the main reason The Synod of Dort was Convened[2] in 1618. This Synod of Dort (as an answer to the Five Points of Arminianism), produced what became known as "The Five Points of Calvinism" as a result. T.U.L.I.P. was simply the Biblical refutation and rebuke to the Five Points (or Articles) of Arminianism which appeared before what are called "The Five Points of Calvinism" (Calvin had long since passed on to his Heavenly Reward). The True Protestants Called this Council (Synod) to clearly set down what they believed so that later, there would be no doubt in anyones' mind concerning the teachings of Martin Luther as compared to Arminius or the Roman Catholic Church (the Roman Catholic Church later did approve Arminianism, and still does).
ARMINIANISM IS RULED HERESY AND A PERVERSION OF THE TEACHINGS OF MARTIN LUTHER
Arminianism was Unanimously Ruled a Heresy at the Synod of Dort by all the Delegates representing the True Protestant Churches. [3]
Here are the original Five Points of Arminiansim. Later, Semi-Arminianism added to and altered these Five Original Points. This will be discussed later.
THE FIVE POINTS OF ARMINIANISM
II. Christ died for all men (not for the Elect alone), but no one except the believer has remission of sin.
III. Man can neither of himself nor of his free will do anything truly good until he is born again of God, in Christ, through the Holy Spirit. (Arminianism here totally appeared to agree with Luther to try and not be identified as Pelagians) Arminus is on record as teaching something quite different however. Anyone who has studied Arminius and his followers knows this. They were duplicitous, Covenant-breakers and hypocrites to the Church that had trusted them to be faithful ministers.
IV. All good deeds or movements in the regenerate must be ascribed to the grace of God but his grace is not Irresistible. (rejecting Luther, Calvin and Zwingli and Augustine)
V. Those who are incorporated into Christ by a true faith have power given them through the assisting grace of the Holy Spirit to persevere in the faith. But it is possible for a believer to fall from grace. (the believer can lose his salvation, no Eternal Security of the Believer). This agrees with the Roman Catholic Churchs' position that you can "lose" your Salvation, and disagrees with Luther who taught the Elect can never be lost.
SEMI-ARMINIANISM
After the Synod of Dort, Semi-Arminianism appeared. They drifted into Pelagianism, denying Point III of original Arminianism stating that mans' free will had the "power to choose" his own Salvation.
Later, a dispute arose between the Dominicans and the Jesuits over Arminianism. The Dominicans pointed out that it (Arminianism) was just Pelagianism! A Heresy! The pope said they were both wrong and to stop fighting.
Rome then officially approved Arminianism and Semi-Arminianism at The Council of Trent.

It should also be known that King James I of England (of the KJV 1611) also sent Delegates who were among those who voted Unanimously against Arminianism and endorsed T.U.L.I.P. There were more Protestant Theologians and scholars present at the Synod of Dort than were ever assembled together before or since.
Therefore by rights, no Arminian should be using a King James 1611
Authorized Version as it was never intended to be an Arminian Bible. Quoting Scripture from the KJV 1611 tends to give approval to whatever the
individual is talking about. If Arminians were honest, they would not use
it, but false teachers know the acceptability of the KJV and use it for
their own purposes. They take "arminian sounding" passages and say that is
what the KJV means, when it doesn't. They twist Scripture to make the KJV
sound like an Arminian Bible when it never was. That is how they work. The Mormons, who are also Arminians, also quote freely from the KJV.

No Council or Synod of Arminians or Semi-Arminians, composed of all the Protestant Churches, has ever been Authorized to be Convened by any Nation to overrule The Synod of Dort to this very day.
