Doug arrived at West Valley College to find no players. Thoughts of appointment golf run through his mind as he drives home disappointed.
Once again players are out in force as Doug Korns, Rich Norris, Eric Mickelson and John Davis meet at John D Morgan Park. Since George Allen is no longer a regular, Rich claims this as his home course, as play begins. Doug jumps into an early lead with the first deuce of the day on hole two, but shanks his drive on hole three and pulls in with a four. All even again. Doug and Eric manage pars on hole four to move into the lead, and Eric takes sole possession of the lead on the next hole as both he and John deuce. Rich struggles with three bogeys on the last four holes and both Eric and John close the front nine with a deuce. Eric holds a one stroke lead over John at the turn.
The back nine had to have three holes redesigned as the neighboring school had been reworked with permanent fences, closing us out.
Eric increased his lead on the back nine with deuces on holes ten and eleven, but John roared back with a pair of deuces on twelve and thirteen, while Eric bogeyed one of those holes. A string of pars left them tied after seventeen holes. Since we'd had to skip a hole earlier, due to people, a final makeup hole might determine the outcome. A final lamp pole near the parking lot was designated and a long tee selected. John Davis led off with the perfect skipper and slide down the path. Eric's drive was not as outstanding, but John left the door open by missing his deuce attempt. Eric missed a medium length putt and bogeyed the hole as John finished with a par. Doug and Rich enjoyed the exciting finish between these two as they remembered their tight battle during John's last appearance at Coyote Creek. Rich finished at par and Doug a couple over.

Congratulations to John Davis, with a 50, in an exciting victory for the week.
