The University augments its program of formal education through many services and organizations. Student Life program offerings enhance the total development of the Grambling student by coordinating and promoting educational, recreational, social, cultural, and entertainment activities that create opportunities for extra-curricular interaction and professional growth. The Dean of Student Life with a competent cadre of staff: administrators, counselors, faculty mentors, medical, and clerical personnel, facilitate operations and services of: student activities (including Freshman Orientation and Student Union Programming), health and counseling services, guidance and testing, career development and placement, student judicial programs, religious life, and pastoral services. Concern for the students' welfare provides that conducive environment, yielding ultimate individual achievements in community and global responsibility. Each student is a part of the University. The pervasive spirit unites the student body into a close family-like relationship, and the entire campus converts to a place of genuine friendliness. Student Life services includes:

In compliance with the University mission, the Career Planning and Placement Center provides two principal functions: (1) career development and/or planning and (2) actual job placement contact. The center (1)acts as a liaison between the university and various employment organizations, including business, industry, elementary and secondary school systems, college/university, professional schools, state, local and federal government, and (2) provides job search tactics to students who seek such service. In addition to services, the center maintains a career library that houses (a) video cassettes on recruiting and (b) information on: various school districts, interviewing tips, resumes, business and industrial organizations, as well as other forms of communication.
The center assists (1)graduating seniors and students in terminal programs in the acquisition of full-time employment; applicable with education, skills, interests, and abilities, (2) undergraduates in the acquisition of experiencial learning via summer work experiences, internships, and co-op, and (3) alumni in the acquisition of new positions. Seniors and graduates may register placement creditials with the Center. Credentials are made available to prospective employing agencies. The center is located in the College of Business and Computer Center Building on the corner of RWE Jones Drive and Cole Street.

The "UNION" is the community center of the University and serves as a unifying force for the entire campus commnity; providing necessary facilities and services for students, faculty, administration, and guests. As the center of the University-community life, it serves as a laboratory for citizenship. Students receive training in social responsibility and leadership.
Various boards, committees, and personnel plan and implement cultural and recreational free time activities. Members of the university family rely upon the student union's availability as an informal meeting place away from the classroom. Daily activities revolve around its services, conveniences, and amenities.
Foster-Johnson Health CenterClick here for full screen view
Foster-Johnson Health Center is an ambulatory, out-patient medical facility located on the south side of the campus. Students are afforded health care by referring physicians and a team of professional nurses. The nursing staff is available for medical advice, counseling regarding health problems, assessment, and treatment of student maladies.
Grambling State University Post Office
The GSU Post Office provides full mailing and postal purchasing services for Grambling students and guests. On-campus students pay an assessed fee during registration for an assigned box. In addition, each student must remit a key deposit.
International Students
The Office of Student Affairs provides various programs, activities, and organizations for more than one hundred undergraduate or graduate international students. Activities culminate annually in international week. The Coordinator of Special Projects serves as the advisor for international students.
Recreation/Intramural Sports
The Recreation/Intramural Sports Department conducts a modern porgram of sports participation for students, faculty, and staff of Grambling State University. The department provides
- active games and recreation,
- a complete intramural program, and
- overall wellness for active college men and women and the university community.
Student participants improve their physical and mental health, develop athletic skills, and establish life long patterns of recreational participation. Program areas include:- Informal Recreation

Religious Life
Central to the university and community environment are religious activities. Varied denominations are located within the Grambling area. Students avail themselves of regular services, conferences, lectures, and round-table discussions of a religious nature. The University places major emphasis on the positive aspects of ensuing community relations. Objectives of the campus program are:- provide opportunities that assist students with wholesome views of religion,
- develop a scholarly atmosphere conducive to contemplation, and
- provide cooperative efforts to campus and community religious organizations.

Student Clubs and OrganizationsStudent organizations at Grambling provide supportive and cohesive elements for student motivation, initiative, and involvement.Student organizations provide a valuable service to the Grambling campus by promoting leadership development, community spirit, activism, public service, and social and cultural interaction. Each year, the recognized student organizations sponsor conferences, seminars, lectures, debates, and cultural and social events. These programs allow Grambling students to meet and interact with local, state and nationally renowned scholars, artists, politicans, academicians, and other professionals.

Student Judicial Affairs
The University, through the Office of Student Judicial Affairs, established a system of judiciaries and a code of student conduct that ensures the safety and welfare of the student and university community. Students admitted to Grambling State University agree to adhere to the rules, regulations, and policies set forth in the Student Code of Conduct. In the event of a violation, the student agrees to adjudication through the judicial process.
Student Personnel Services
Student Personnel Services assists every student in deriving the greatest benefit from University experiences. The Dean of Student Life, with a cadre of staff: administrators, counselors, faculty mentors, medical, and clerical personnel, facilitate operations and services of housing, student activities (including Freshman Orientation and Student Union Programming), health and counseling services, guidance and testing, career development and placement, student judicial programs, religious life, and pastoral services.
Orientation Services
Freshmen and new students participate in a University Orientation. Student Personnel Services and the College of Basic and Special Studies plan activities that orient the incoming student. Resultant programming provides a required series of discussions, tours, interviews, entrance examinations, etc., that facilitate adjustment to college life.
